We are seeking a Management Associate for our Environmental department at United States Steel Minnesota Ore Operations in Mountain Iron, MN. The Management Associate for Environmental Engineering is an entry level position for recent college graduates and is scheduled to start in the summer of 2025. Through formal and on-the-job training related to individual assignments, Management Associates build business and management skills while they prepare for successful futures. U. S. Steel’s Management Associate Program provides relevant work experience while strengthening leadership capabilities for advanced roles within our Corporation.
Job Responsibilities:
- Developing and innovative and cost-effective solutions for environmental issues.
- Working on required permitting including applicability determinations, permit applications and permit negotiations.
- Communicating with environmental agencies, plant operations, and staff organizations on various issues including regulation interpretation and application, project development and permitting, compliance and enforcement.
- Participating on environmental audits to assure compliance and identify potential issues.
- Managing contracted engineering/environmental consultants.
- Communicating with industry trade associations.
- Projects may include issues related to Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, Wetlands, Solid Waste, Remediation and Climate Change.
- Candidate must have a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or Civil Engineering.
- Candidates with other engineering degrees will be considered if they have additional course work or related experience in environmental science.
- Candidate must have 0-3 years of professional work experience. Computer literacy with a working skills level in Microsoft Office products in required.
- This is a safety sensitive position requiring drug and alcohol testing.
