Position Summary
Reed Smith is at the forefront of US law firms serving the managed care industry. We have one of the largest—if not the largest—law firm practice groups dedicated to the managed care space. Our team represents dozens of the largest managed care organizations across the nation with their most complex litigation, regulatory and business challenges. With over 60 dedicated attorneys specializing exclusively in managed care, our team boasts comprehensive knowledge of the issues faced by managed care organizations, specifically those relating to litigation, regulatory and compliance, transactions, and government programs.
The Managed Care Content Strategy Manager will provide support to the attorneys in the Managed Care group, interacting with partners and associates, and other business development and marketing resources across the firm.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the managed care attorneys and business development team, and involves taking ownership of content development and leading on thought leadership opportunities. In this role, you will research, write, and edit content to engage our audience and enhance our presence in the marketplace.
Communication is important in this role as the Managed Care Content Strategy Manager will lead engagement and implementation efforts for strategic client alerts, social media posts,
proposals, presentations, innovative legal trackers, and profile raising opportunities for the Managed Care group both internally and externally.
The role requires a highly organized, detail-oriented individual with excellent written and verbal communications skills, good project management skills, strong client service orientation, and a knowledge or interest of managed care law.
We are looking for someone with an entrepreneurial mindset. A proactive and enthusiastic approach with the ability to work with little supervision is also key. The successful candidate should be a robust, confident, and effective communicator, with the ability to offer ideas and draft clear and accurate legal copy.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Research and analysis:
Conduct legal research to stay informed about current legal trends, cases and developments within the managed care sector.
Analyze and interpret complex legal information to ensure accurate representation in content creation.
Content creation:
Develop engaging and informative content that caters to the managed care audience.
Write clear, concise, and compelling content while maintaining a high level of accuracy and credibility.
Demonstrated ability to explain complex concepts in a digestible manner.
Editing and proofreading:
Review and edit written content for clarity, coherence, and grammatical accuracy.
Conduct thorough proofreading to eliminate errors and ensure a polished final product.
Ensure materials are error free, visually appealing, and all aspects of the materials are responsive to the client/prospective client and reflective of the firm’s differentiators.
Ensure content follows firm writing style and best practices.
Project management
Supports the use of the Managed Care innovative legal trackers and other technologies to capture legal updates needed and draft content accordingly.
Be the project lead in coordination with BD team by drafting of content for thought leadership strategies including presentations, client alerts, blog postings, and other marketing platforms from inception through completion.
Additional responsibilities
Work with the managed care BD team to maintain, update and develop standard managed care materials for website and proposal content, including writing, editing, and proofreading materials.
Establish and maintain strong relationships with lead partners, business development managers, and others, to assist in the development of managed care content.
Develop in-depth knowledge of managed care regarding collective and individual experience; legal, industry and business trends; and practice-specific marketing collateral.
Ability to learn firm’s Sales Force program to input requests for client alerts and profile raising opportunities both internally and externally.
Complete special projects as assigned.

Requirements
Education: Bachelor's degree in Journalism, English, Communications, or a related field
Experience: 5-8 years experience in a journalism role or related field. Knowledge of the managed care space is requested but not mandatory.
Skills:
- Detail orientated with excellent written/verbal communication skills and genuinely enjoys writing.
- Basic understanding or the interest of learning legal principles, terminology, and procedures
- Proficiency in adapting writing style to suit different audiences, from legal professionals to the general public.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and experience working in ‘remote teams’ of lawyers and BD/marketing professionals around the world, and is willing to work outside of office hours to meet a deadline.
- Strong computer skills including advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Must be highly organized with the ability to multi-task, manage workload and competing priorities and pay close attention to details.
- Must be able to demonstrate initiative, be flexible and adaptable and be a team player.

- Ability to hear and understand verbal communication, including conversations and instructions, is important for effective collaboration and communication.

- Must work in office as required.
Working Conditions: This role is remote. Occasionally called upon to work hours in excess of your normal daily schedule. The details of your weekly schedule will be discussed further with your direct supervisor.
Pay Ranges: This represents the presently-anticipated low and high end of Reed Smith’s pay range for this position. Actual pay may vary based on various factors, including but not limited to location and experience.
