Performs mammography, computed tomography, and imaging procedures in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies, values, and mission of the organization. Job Responsibilities
- Positions patients and selects anatomic and technical parameters accurately.
- Implements radiation protection and safety standards. Applies principle of As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA) to minimize exposure to patient, self, and others.
- Assesses and educates patients according to specific department protocols.
- Maintains a quality assurance program according to Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) regulations.
- Reviews patient history and physician's orders.
- Educates patients regarding procedures, equipment, and exam to ensure patients' understanding and cooperation.
- Associate's degree or higher in Science required upon hire OR
- Associate's degree or higher in related field required upon hire
- A combination of education, training and experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
- No experience required
- RT(R) - Registered as a Radiological Technologist in Radiology required upon hire AND
- RT(M) - Registered as a Radiological Technologist in Mammography required upon hire AND
- RT(CT) - Registered as a Radiological Technologist in Computed Tomography required upon hire AND
- ROC - Radiation Operator Certification in the state of Kentucky required upon hire AND
- BLS - Certified as a Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider required within 90 days of employment in this position
- Requires critical thinking skills and decisive judgment.
- Works under minimal supervision.
- Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
- Applies more advanced skills and knowledge in the area of specialization.
