About the Job
We are seeking an experienced Make Ready Engineering Technician to join our growing fiber to the home deployment team. In this role, you will be responsible for reviewing make ready engineering work performed by utility companies and disputing unnecessary make ready work to control costs and stay ahead of schedule.
Essential Job Duties:
· Thoroughly review Form 3s (make ready engineering designs) provided by utility companies for accuracy and completeness related to the required make ready construction work on utility poles
· Perform joint ride outs with utility companies to inspect utility poles, discuss make ready designs, and dispute any unnecessary or inaccurate make ready work identified
· Develop strong working relationships with utility company engineers and construction crews to facilitate efficient make ready resolution
· Ensure adherence to all applicable codes, safety standards, and company construction specifications when reviewing make ready designs
· Document all make ready disputes and approvals, maintaining detailed records and correspondence
· Work closely with internal construction teams to validate final make ready completion and provide technical guidance
· Continuously improve processes and tools related to the make ready engineering review and approval cycle
· Analyze make ready costs and identify opportunities for cost savings through improved engineering practices
· Partner with licensing coordinators to make sure applications submitted reflect the correct make ready determination and disputes are brought to resolution.
· Help train staff members on make ready engineering as needed
· Completes special projects as assigned by the Director of Engineering.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
· Minimum of 3 years' experience in utility pole make ready engineering or construction
· Proficient understanding of utility pole design standards, clearance requirements, and joint use attachments
· Thorough understanding of NESC, telecordia blue book and other engineering standards.
· Ability to interpret engineering drawings, plans, and specifications
· Strong problem-solving and negotiation skills
· Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
· Self-motivated with keen attention to detail
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
· Willingness to travel for site visits and meetings as needed
Education and Experience:
Education: 2 or 4 year degree preferred, high school diploma required.
Experience: Minimum of three years of relevant technical experience.
