Wieland is hiring a Process Engineer. The Process Engineer will be responsible for optimizing and improving the efficiency of shredding, sorting, melting, smelting, casting, packaging, and other manufacturing processes. To ensure the smooth functioning of the production line, develop new techniques, modify existing designs. To lead and coordinate process improvement projects with Engineering, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and Finance/Accounting teams. To provide superior quality service to customers through effective and proactive communication, execution of the order process, and continuously challenging current processes and policies. To contribute as a team member to achievement of strategic objectives of the Company, while focusing on living the core values. This role is located in Shelbyville, KY and will be fully on-site.
Responsibilities
Process Engineer Responsibilities:
- Designing new or modified production layouts and processes with supporting cost/benefit analysis.
- Complete production workflow diagrams with rates and machine limits to assess bottlenecks and operator influences.
- Create/Update all Standard Operating Procedures working with Admin/Sales/Operations/Maintenance/EHS for proper operational guidelines.
- Coordinate with engineering team for equipment sizing and accompanying considerations.
- Identify areas for Improvement in process yield, cost and product quality.
- Networking and communication with vendors on new and existing products with product sample testing.
- Track metrics to discover areas for improvement and monitor upgrades.
- Mentoring engineering interns helping them see their full potential.
Process Engineer Qualifications:
- Industrial, Metallurgical, Materials, Chemical or other Process Engineering Degree (BS) or equivalent
- Ability to effectively communicate technical information to non-technical audiences and other engineering disciplines.
- Proficient with Microsoft applications i.e. (excel, outlook, word)
- Self-motivated / Autonomous worker and also effective in a team environment
- Understanding of Lean Six Sigma/Value Stream Mapping and other Quality Tools preferred
- Practical understanding of industrial statistics and ability to use with complex and incomplete data sets. Some experience in statistical software.
- Familiarity with applicable health and safety regulations.
- Ability to lead others towards positive changes in existing practices and concepts.
- Prefer >2 years experiences in industrial plant setting
