Position Overview:
The purpose of the Maintenance Technician at Gasser Chair is to ensure the smooth operation of all production machinery and equipment by performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs. The role involves a hands-on approach to maintaining the facility's mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems, thereby contributing to the overall efficiency, safety, and productivity of the manufacturing operations. The Maintenance Technician plays a critical role in minimizing downtime and ensuring that production schedules are met, ultimately supporting Gasser Chair's commitment to delivering high-quality seating products to its customers.
Responsibilities:
- Preventive Maintenance: Perform routine preventive maintenance on all production machinery and equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues on various types of equipment, including CNC machines, presses, and assembly lines.
- Equipment Installation: Assist in the installation and setup of new machinery, ensuring proper alignment, calibration, and functionality.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, including repairs, preventive maintenance, and parts inventory.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure all maintenance activities are performed in accordance with safety regulations and company policies, identifying and addressing any potential safety hazards.
- Collaboration: Work closely with production operators to understand equipment issues and provide timely solutions to minimize downtime.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and participate in initiatives to enhance equipment efficiency and reliability.
- Emergency Repairs: Respond quickly to emergency breakdowns, performing necessary repairs to minimize disruption to production.
- Inventory Management: Monitor and maintain spare parts inventory, ensuring that critical parts are available when needed.
- Training: Assist in training production staff on the proper use and basic maintenance of equipment to prevent unnecessary wear and tear.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in industrial maintenance, mechanical engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- Proven experience as a maintenance technician in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the furniture or seating industry.
- Strong mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic troubleshooting skills.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and practices related to equipment maintenance.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Physical Requirements:
The Maintenance Technician at Gasser Chair is expected to perform job duties that involve standing, walking, bending, and climbing for extended periods. The role requires the ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) and operate hand and power tools. The technician may be required to work in confined spaces, at heights, and in various environmental conditions (e.g., noise, heat, cold). Manual dexterity is essential for handling small parts and tools, and the technician must be able to safely operate machinery and equipment.
