Come join the team at the Great Plains Zoo! We are now hiring a Maintenance Technician. The Maintenance Tech performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled work in the maintenance and repair of Zoo buildings, grounds, and exhibits; performs related duties as assigned.

Competency
- Basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and professional cleaning practices.
- Experience with hand and power tools, as well as other types of machinery/equipment needed for maintenance and repair of public buildings.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Manual dexterity and physical stamina.
- Must be able to follow written and oral instructions (blueprints/assembly instructions).
- Must have basic skills/working knowledge of computers to operate our software for things such as timeclock, work orders, searching for parts and equipment, and sending and receiving emails, etc.
Required Education and Experience
- Requires a high school diploma or GED certificate.
- Must have 1 or more years of experience in a related maintenance field.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Preference given to candidates with additional training, trade experience, or degree/certificate in a related field (i.e. Plumbing, HVAC, Electrical, Carpentry, Welding, Pool/Pump, Fencing, Painting/Staining, etc).
Work Schedule
- This is a full-time position working Sunday-Thursday following the initial training period of 6-12 months. During training, the position will be Monday-Friday. Hours are typically 8:00am-5:00pm with a one-hour lunch break.
