Job Summary: As a Maintenance Technician at Silverfern North, you will play a critical role in maintaining the safety, functionality, and aesthetics of our facilities. Your primary responsibilities will include performing repairs, preventative maintenance, and general upkeep to ensure the comfort and well-being of our residents.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintenance and Repairs:
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as HVAC system checks, plumbing repairs, and electrical work.
- Address and promptly resolve maintenance requests and issues from residents and staff.
- Conduct regular safety inspections to identify and address potential hazards or safety concerns.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols, including fire safety and emergency procedures.
- Maintain and repair common appliances, such as refrigerators, stoves, and dishwashers.
- Coordinate with Maintenance Director for more extensive repairs or replacements.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, repairs, and inspections
- Maintain an organized inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment.
- Grounds and Exterior Maintenance:
- Maintain cleanliness of the exterior of the community, including landscaping, walkways, and parking areas.
- Perform snow removal, lawn care, and general upkeep of outdoor spaces.
- Painting and Carpentry:
- Perform minor carpentry work, such as repairing cabinets, doors, and windows.
- Touch up paint and assist with larger painting projects as needed.
- Emergency Response:
- Respond to emergency maintenance requests promptly, including evenings and weekends, to ensure the safety and comfort of residents.
- Maintain an on-call schedule as required.
- Teamwork:
- Collaborate with other maintenance technicians, housekeeping staff, and management to ensure a safe and well-maintained environment.
- Attend team meetings and participate in training sessions.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; trade school or vocational training in maintenance is a plus.
- Previous maintenance experience, preferably in a senior living or hospitality setting.
- Knowledge of building systems, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry.
- Strong problem-solving and technical skills.
- Ability to lift, carry, and operate heavy equipment and perform physical tasks.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Flexibility to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures.
