Position Summary:
The Maintenance Technician- Rotating Equipment is responsible for maintenance of all rotating equipment across the site. Works with industrial machinery and equipment including but not limited to: pumps, agitators, compressors, conveyor belts, motors and specialty equipment. Overtime is required, at times, but should not be expected regularly unless there are major equipment issues or during turnaround. He or she will be assigned to an on-call schedule after some time, which will be discussed in detail once the employee gains familiarity with the site. This position is assigned to the Maintenance Team and reports directly to the assigned Maintenance Supervisor.
Responsibilities:
- Access SAP to review equipment history, print Work Orders, view Bill of materials, and locate stores stock parts.
- Complete Work Order paperwork which includes history, time confirmation, variance codes, Job plan forms and other associated paperwork.
- Level and align pump bases, compressors, agitators, rotary valves, and centrifuge, conduct pump repair and maintenance
- Set impeller clearance on pumps / Seal replacement on pumps and agitators / Alignment of motor to gearbox / Measurement of precision fits
- Perform periodic preventative Maintenance on all types of rotating equipment.
- Being able to support maintenance work on weekends and after regular hours during turnarounds.
- Provide support to the Bayport/KTN facilities and coordinate with contract personnel as needed.
- Actively participating in Kuraray Safety Programs.
- Other tasks assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required
- Minimum 10 years industrial /construction/maintenance industry experience, 3 years as a Journeyman preferred.
- NCCER certification preferred.
- Knowledge of and experience in reverse alignment, laser alignment, dial indicators, different types of metals, different types of bearings, mechanical seals, tandem seals, compression packing, multi-stage pumps, vertical pumps, different types of drive coupling, cooling tower fan units, gearboxes and agitators, centrifugal compressor, machine shop equipment, hydraulic reading and IRD reading
- Basic computer proficiency allowing the technician to be able to navigate a Windows-based system/server to find and print out specification data sheets and drawings.
- Preferred experience with SAP PM module.
- Ability to read P&ID's and equipment drawings.
- Must be capable of working in the standing position for up to 4 hours at a time / Able to climb stairs and ladders on a regular basis / Able to lift up to 50 lbs. Frequent bending, stooping, crouching, twisting and turning / Regular crawling, climbing, kneeling, squatting and bending will be required / Able to work in PPE such as acid suits, vapor suits, hot suits, and respirator as business needs require / Able to work in confine spaces.
