Full Time (40 hours per week, occasional weekends, nights and holidays)
The Adoptions Maintenance Technician role is an ideal position for an individual with working knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in the installation, maintenance and repair of buildings/grounds and the safe use of various tools and equipment.
Working with our maintenance team here at Helen Woodward Animal Center will provide a unique opportunity for you to support the operations and repairs of our Adoptions building! Each day you will engage in a variety of projects to expand your skills in equipment use and safe practices.
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITES:
As a Maintenance Technician you are responsible for providing high-quality service and safety while performing a variety of skilled work in all areas of facility maintenance, including painting, repair, cleaning restrooms, windows, floors, walls, etc.
As a Maintenance Technician you will gain valuable experience in the safe use of routine equipment such as but not limited to: power tools, cleaning products, ladders, paint supplies. Our maintenance technicians play a vital role in the protection of our employees and visitors of the center through routine cleaning and maintenance of other CDC guidelines. Utilizing your previous custodial experience, you will clean and maintain restrooms, offices, common areas, floors, windows, dispose of trash and recyclable materials, etc.
You can also expect in this role to be an active participant in Center events and program needs, examples include but are not limited to collaborating with departments, set-up/tear-down, running errands, and more.
Other requirements include:
- Demonstrated experience in building and managing positive and effective relationships
- Solutions/results oriented and passionate about meeting individual and team goals
- Consistent record of attendance and punctuality
- Must be at least 21 years old and have a minimum high school diploma
- Experienced in ladder safety, partner lifting, safe handling and accident prevention
- Generally comfortable while working around animals such as dogs/cats, horses, birds, reptiles and more.
- Demonstrated discipline to stay on task and complete requests with reliability and priority
- This position does require consistent physical activity including walking, standing, sitting bending, lifting up to 50 lbs. and reaching overhead. Candidates may spend up to 25% of the time working outdoors
- Occasional driving duties may be required in this role. Applicants must possess a valid Driver's License and provide a recent DMV Driving Record report and proof of insurance upon hire
