JOB SUMMARY
Performs a variety of repairs, troubleshooting, set-up, and general maintenance duties to keep equipment and machinery in operation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs packaging line change over and packaging equipment set up, start up, trouble shooting, including vision system and sensor adjustments;
- Performs daily preventive, corrective and predictive maintenance to mechanical equipment related to manufacturing and packaging process, utilities equipment and ancillary controls
- Performs instrumentation, electrical and computerized systems troubleshooting and repairs with assistance of Plant and/or Vendor Engineering.
- Performs proactive preventive maintenance (PM) and planned activities as per schedule or planner requests, complying with deadlines and timely documentation.
- Selects and recommends spares and necessary parts for stock purposes in order to minimize process downtime in replacement activities for existing and new equipment.
- Reviews and follows safety procedures for all equipment.
- Responsible for detailed documentation and record keeping of their work
- Provides guidance to machine operator staff
- Provides clear descriptions of equipment issues to team to facilitate pass down communications and to eliminate future occurrences.
- Maintains workplace organization and cleanliness practices
- Complies with company policy, SOP, cGMP, DEA, OSHA and Environmental requirements
- Performs other maintenance duties as requested such as:
- Participates in equipment modifications, rearrangements or minor projects.
- Supports equipment validations activities.
- Provides mechanical support to manufacturing, packaging and utilities projects and teams.
- Performs any other activity when required based on business needs, not necessarily oi their assigned area or area of expertise.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of experience in a pharmaceutical, food or other highly regulated industry with proven mechanical and instrumentation experience in manufacturing and/or high speed packaging equipment and ancillary systems
- Knowledge of programmable logic controller (PLC) technology, behavior and ladder logic to assist in troubleshooting activities
- Capability to interpret mechanical, electrical and PLC drawings and diagrams
- Knowledge on basic instrumentation troubleshooting that can include but is not limited to: motors, pumps, valves, switches, transmitters, sensors, gauges, controllers, etc.
- Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical and/or instrumentation problems on process and high speed packaging equipment
- Knowledge in personal computers with exposition to: Microsoft (Windows, Words, Excel and Power Point)
- Must be able to read technical English and equipment manuals
- Willing to work overtime, rotate and/or alternate shifts per business needs.
EDUCATION
Associate Degree in Industrial Maintenance Technology, Instrumentation, or Electronics or Apprentice program is preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Lifting requirements usually 25-50 pounds and on occasion may be required to lift up to 100 pounds.
