SUMMARY DESCRIPTION AND SKILLS:

This position is part of our Star Dental team, who manufactures dental handpieces known for our collection and design of high and low-speed air-driven handpieces, electric systems and hygiene handpieces. The part-time Maintenance Technician role is an integral part of the team, as this role assists with troubleshooting down assets, completes preventative maintenance, and general building repairs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provides support for maintenance, engineering, and production by troubleshooting, startup, and maintenance of the plant assets, focusing on safe, reliable, and cost-effective production in a lean manufacturing environment.
• Safely performs assigned tasks competently and efficiently.
• Will learn how to locate sources of problems by observing mechanical and/or electrical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments, drawings, and diagrams.
• Will learn to remove/replace defective parts by disassembling machinery, using hand/power tools.
• Will assist in controlling downtime by performing routine preventative maintenance requirements, daily equipment inspections, and monitoring machine operational performance.
• Utilize computer software to track preventative maintenance schedules and tasks.
• Perform general maintenance activities involving carpentry, material/equipment moving and rigging, painting, plumbing, welding, electrical, grounds-keeping, and other activities.
• Ability to obtain site fork truck license and safely operate equipment.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• High school diploma or equivalent GED required.
• Specialized training up to and including on-the-job training.
• Three (3) to 5 years' experience.
• Must possess a valid driver's license and be forklift certified or willing to complete necessary training.
• Knowledge of various maintenance trades, such as electrical, mechanical, plumbing, painting, carpentry, etc.
• Familiar with operating power tools.
• Basic computer skills required.
• Read, write, and verbally communicate in English.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Must have the ability to stoop, stand, climb, and frequently lift up to 50 pounds, more with assistance.
• Able to sit, stand and perform repetitive activities for sustained periods of time.
• Uses hands to type on standard PC keyboard, turn handles on mills, lathes, grinders, and other Tool Room equipment.
