Job Description:
The Operating Engineer is responsible for the operation, inspection, and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems at assigned facilities. This role includes performing inspections and repairs on building systems, infrastructure, and equipment, ensuring the reliable operation of both base building and critical systems.
Shift Schedule:
- Rotating shifts: 5:00 AM - 2:00 PM CST and 9:30 AM - 6:00 PM the following week
- Rotating weekend shift: 1 Saturday per month, 6:00 AM - 12:00 PM (OT eligible)
- Face-to-face interview required
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise contractors, monitor performance, and ensure quality maintenance and repairs on building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical).
- Perform minor repairs, including lighting maintenance, and assist in emergency and preventative maintenance off-hours.
- Complete routine maintenance, predictive and preventative maintenance, and respond to service requests.
- Ensure work areas are safe and compliant with safety standards, identify hazards, and suggest improvements.
- Participate in ongoing technical and safety training programs.
- Assist in achieving compliance with JLL Engineering Operations Compliance Program (OCP).
- Document work and material procurement through the work order system.
- Provide on-call response as needed.
Required Qualifications:
- Valid City of New Orleans 1st Class Stationary Engineer's Certificate in Air Conditioning.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in general building maintenance, including plumbing and electrical.
- Strong mechanical/electrical skills and ability to lift up to 50 lbs and use ladders.
- Familiarity with Windows-based computers and good communication skills in English.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Valid state driver's license.

- Tools and equipment provided by the building owner.
- Ability to comply with both Jones Lang LaSalle and client policies.
- Must be self-motivated and able to work independently or as part of a team.
