Overview:POSITION SUMMARY: Performs maintenance and repairs to all physical structures of Goodwill’s facilities. Activities include preventive maintenance, repairs, remodeling or improvements to facilities and other tasks as required by the department. Maintenance Technician lll requires small project planning and implementation, leading and coordination of tasks and workers.

Essential Functions Statement(s):
- Demonstrates expertise in at least one technical area, i.e., electricity, plumbing, welding, etc.
- Plans and implements projects of varying complexity from beginning to end.
- Leads workers when required in order to complete assigned tasks.
- Demonstrates building maintenance and construction knowledge on most maintenance trades.
- Plans and organizes activities related to the assigned job or work orders including evaluating, material purchasing and developing strategies to complete the job.
- Leads workers when required in order to complete assigned tasks.
- Creates, updates, closes and prints work orders using the Maintenance control database.
- Makes purchases as needed following purchasing procedures and submitting properly completed paperwork.
- Accurately reads and interprets drawings and blue prints.
- Demonstrates knowledge in proper and safe operation of all company issued tools and equipment.
- Performs preventive maintenance, diagnostics, repairs or improvements to facilities as well as other tasks required by the department in a timely manner.
- Completes all required paperwork, checklist and work schedule forms accurately and promptly.
- Drives and travels through San Diego County by following a map as needed. Must meet DMV and insurance requirements.
- Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned or directed.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Education: GED or High School degree required. AA, BA or BS degree preferred. Advanced education in building maintenance & repairs is required.
Experience: Advanced job knowledge and 3 years of experience or 3 to 5 years of GISD experience in a level 3 or level 4 position or a combination of past experience and GISD experience equally for 5 years. Experience must include specific knowledge in one or more areas of general maintenance and repair including but not limited to construction, electricity, plumbing, painting, welding, machining, HVAC, flooring, carpentry, fencing, landscaping and related areas, tools and equipment.
Mathematical Skills: Perform mathematical calculations plus measuring and the ability to read drawings and plans.

Certificates and Licenses: Valid CA Driver’s License with driving record acceptable to Goodwill’s insurance company. This position requires being able to drive a vehicle.
