Job Overview
The Maintenance Technician II plays a vital role in supporting manufacturing operations by delivering comprehensive multi-craft equipment maintenance focused on reliability and efficiency. This position ensures the sustainable operation of machinery and equipment through preventive maintenance on motors, conveyor systems, and other production machinery. Additionally, the Maintenance Technician II contributes to process improvement and serves as a mentor to junior technicians.
General Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; 2-year technical degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of industrial manufacturing experience or demonstrated comparable skills.
- Strong mechanical and electrical expertise.
- Proficient in using computers and software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and CMMS.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, OEM manuals, and precision measuring devices.
- Familiarity with standard shop equipment such as drill presses, band saws, and portable power tools.
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and multitasking skills.
- Experience mentoring and training maintenance team members.
- Successful completion of certification testing.
Primary Responsibilities
- Troubleshooting & Repairs: Diagnose equipment malfunctions using systematic methodologies and repair or replace failed components.
- Preventive Maintenance: Perform and complete assigned preventive maintenance tasks, including major services and overhauls.
- Equipment Alignment & Adjustments: Install and align mechanical drive systems; adjust machinery to meet operational specifications.
- Electrical Work: Test electrical systems and circuits using tools like ohmmeters and voltmeters; repair or replace wiring, switch boxes, and other components.
- Process Improvement: Recommend procedural changes based on equipment behavior and observations.
- Data Management: Maintain accurate maintenance records for historical and future reference.
- Training & Mentorship: Train and mentor junior technicians and operators on equipment servicing and maintenance best practices.
