Summary
Ensures the safety and integrity of facilities and equipment by operating, maintaining, setting up, assembling, and repairing a wide variety of manufacturing equipment, building systems, grounds, and materials handling.
Essential Job Duties:
- Know, comply, and help other employees understand all safety rules and procedures.
- Ensure preventative maintenance schedules are followed to ensure minimal downtime.
- Troubleshoot and repair complex electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical failures on industrial equipment
- Install and perform needed maintenance including shop lights, fans, and electric motors. equipment.
- Perform wiring installs of plant equipment, circuit breaker systems, and other general electrical maintenance as needed in adherence with codes, standards, and safety protocols.
- Perform a variety of semiskilled duties in the areas of plumbing, carpentry, electrical, painting, or plastering as needed for buildings or grounds.
- Safely operate a variety of hand tools including, torches, basic welding equipment, various meters and gauges, chop saws, band saws, drills, drill presses, etc.
- Read, understand, and work from blueprints, shop drawings, schematics, and sketches.
- Maintain and update equipment and service records, provide timely feedback to the supervisor on the status of open issues, and report new work needs, especially safety concerns to management immediately.
- Comply with all Environmental, Health, and Safety programs, plans, and regulations.
- Operate a forklift according to applicable safety standards, instructions, and training.
- Perform related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications - Required qualifications to effectively perform the job. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered. (Additional requirements may be designated by position.)
- This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must have five or more years of progressively responsible electrical and mechanical maintenance experience.
- Must be a journeyman-level electrician, plumber, or millwright, or have equivalent experience to work on complex high- and low-voltage equipment, circuitry, drives, and controllers.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities - May be representative, but not all-inclusive, of those knowledge, skills and abilities commonly associated with this position.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products - specifically Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to read blueprints, shop drawings, schematics, and sketches.
- Proficient in shop math
- Working knowledge of electronics, controllers, electrical motors, drives, and general circuitry
- Strong working knowledge of high-voltage equipment and safe repair and maintenance.
- Working knowledge of safe heavy-capacity lifting, moving, and rigging techniques
- Ability to work independently and communicate with supervisors and employees who use the equipment.
- Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work as well as concentrate on multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Any basic or advanced industrial maintenance certification is a plus
Work Environment - Environmental or atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.
- General manufacturing environment that is subject to extremes in hot and cold, climate and weather conditions, and dust and waste materials around equipment.
- The work will be proximate to various types of metal cutting and processing equipment with moving parts.
- Overhead cranes and gantry cranes are used extensively for moving large parts and assemblies.
- Parts and subassemblies are typically large with weights up to 10,000 lbs.
- Welding operations occur throughout the plant and caution must be used to anticipate and avoid damage to eyes.
- Trip and slip hazards result from the conduct of manufacturing operations, stairs, and uneven terrain.
- Equipment and certain operations such as grinding and gouging periodically occur which generate a high level of noise.
- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (safety glasses, safety shoes, proper clothing, hearing protection) always and other protective gear (such as goggles, auto darkening weld helmets, Etc.) to be employed based on the task being performed.

- Required to use close vision and be able to focus and determine small differences in material and part characteristics.
- Regularly required to talk and hear, frequently required to sit, stand, bend at the knee and waist, kneel, climb stairs, crouch, and walk.
- Regularly required to lift up to 50 lbs. using proper techniques.
- Must be able to have repetitive wrist, hand and/or finger movement to use standard and specialized hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring equipment.
- Must have finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination to operate material handling and rigging equipment.
- Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function.
