Job Summary|
The Maintenance Technician I plays a crucial role in maintaining the operational excellence. This position involves the execution of tasks to ensure the machines, mechanical equipment, and structures within the markets are in peak working condition. The Maintenance Technician I conducts general maintenance and upkeep of market buildings, promptly addressing safety concerns and hazardous conditions. This role is responsible for the efficient maintenance of building electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems and encompasses a wide range of skills, including electrical work, heating and air conditioning, plumbing, carpentry, painting, construction, and welding.
Key Responsibilities|
- Diagnose maintenance issues and perform minor and major repairs, as well as preventative maintenance procedures.
- Conduct routine maintenance tasks, such as drain system maintenance, inspecting drives, motors, belts, checking fluid levels, replacing filters, and other preventive maintenance actions.
- Construct, rebuild, and repair market facilities, including wood and metal structures, equipment, and furniture. Prepare surfaces for painting and varnishing and apply surface coverings as required.
- Estimate the cost of labor and materials for work orders, and obtain competitive prices for equipment and supplies needed by both markets.
- Execute building maintenance tasks, including repairs to doors, windows, and other building components, as well as furniture assembly. Install and maintain electronic lock systems and electrical security systems.
- Operate equipment and machinery, such as saws, drill presses, and various hand and power tools, to perform repair and maintenance work. Maintain tools and equipment in a safe, clean, and proper working condition.
- Ensure compliance with safety practices and procedures, as well as federal, state, and local codes, regulations, and requirements.
- Complete grounds keeping functions for all market locations, including maintaining lawns, outdoor areas, and addressing snow removal.
- Maintain the building HVAC equipment to ensure proper climate control within the facility.
- Pay meticulous attention to detail to ensure that all jobs are completed to the highest standard, and potential hazards or warning signs of problems are not overlooked.
- Possess the physical stamina to handle a full shift of active work within the assigned locations.
Skills|
- Equipment Maintenance: Performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
- Proficiency with trade tools, equipment, materials, methods, and techniques used in skilled and general maintenance and repair involving at least three of the following: electrical, electronics, heating and air conditioning, locksmith, plumbing, carpentry, painting, or welding.
- Troubleshooting: Determining causes of operating errors and deciding on appropriate solutions.
- Critical Thinking: Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
- Basic record-keeping techniques.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local building codes and regulations.
Required Attributes|
- Extensive knowledge of building systems, including plumbing, electrical, and HVAC.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to identify issues and determine necessary repairs.
- Proficient in planning maintenance schedules for building systems.
- Strong management and supervisory skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Schedule|
- 8-hour shift
- Weekends as necessary
Experience|
- Preferred: Minimum of three years in facilities maintenance
License/Certification|
- Required: Driver"s License
