Position Overview and Purpose
A Maintenance Technician maintains the regular cleaning and service of warehouse equipment and machinery.
Essential functions and basic duties

Perform refrigeration repairs, cleaning and full service including:

Monitor entire refrigeration system.

Check all freezer temperatures.

Do a walk thru of all freezers checking evaporators.

Perform leak check of entire refrigeration system (weekly basis).

Check all levels of refrigeration vessels.

Take readings on all screw compressors, compressor engines and gas generators, if running.

Handle repairs and maintenance of all warehouse machinery (i.e. forklifts and other lift equipment).

Perform preventative maintenance on all machinery.

Set up and install new equipment, modifies or renovates equipment as directed.

Perform general warehouse and vehicle upkeep (i.e. cleaning, painting, repair, etc.).

Perform demand and preventive maintenance for cold storage facility.

Maintain complete inventory records of machinery, equipment repairs and service cycle activities.

Comply with all internal policies and Occupational Safety and Health Administrative (OSHA) rules while working.

Perform other duties and special projects as needed.
Qualifications
-
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 2-3 years of warehouse inventory-related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.

Ability to identify technical defects in refrigeration system and all other equipment in the facility.

Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.

Knowledge of refrigeration and overall warehouse maintenance skills is desirable.

Must be able to work independently or in a team environment.

Knowledge of the safety and official procedures for handling equipment.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Employees working in a cold storage facility may be exposed to cold and hot temperatures, loud noise levels, vibration, mechanical hazards, and moving objects or other vehicles. Employees may interact with staff and/or public and private representatives in interpreting and enforcing departmental policies and procedures.
