Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Maintenance Technician to join our 2nd shift team at our can filling plant. The Maintenance Technician will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient operation, upkeep, and reliability of our production machinery and equipment. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in mechanical and automated environments, exceptional problem-solving skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Equipment Maintenance: Perform preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance on all production equipment, including bottle filling machines, conveyor systems, packaging equipment, and related machinery.
2. Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and automation issues in a timely manner to minimize downtime and production interruptions.
3. Repairs: Conduct repairs and replacements of faulty components, ensuring that equipment operates at optimal efficiency and safety standards are met.
4. Calibration: Regularly calibrate and fine-tune machinery to maintain accurate filling volumes, packaging specifications, and quality standards.
5. Documentation: Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, parts usage, and equipment performance. Utilize computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) to track and manage work orders.
6. Spare Parts Management: Monitor and manage inventory levels of critical spare parts, collaborating with procurement to ensure availability while controlling costs.
7. Safety and Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations, promoting a culture of safety among the maintenance team. Keep up-to-date with industry standards and best practices.
8. Collaboration: Work closely with production supervisors and operators to understand equipment requirements and address maintenance needs without disrupting production schedules.
9. Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process and equipment improvements to enhance overall plant efficiency, reliability, and product quality.
10. Training: Train and mentor junior technicians and operators on equipment operation, maintenance best practices, and safety procedures.
11. Emergency Response: Be on-call to respond to emergency maintenance requests outside regular working hours when necessary.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED. Relevant certifications are a plus.
- Proven experience as a Maintenance Technician in a manufacturing or canning environment
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, electrical circuits, and automation controls.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, hand tools, and precision instruments for maintenance and repairs.
- Familiarity with PLCs, HMI interfaces, and industrial control systems.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to think critically under pressure.
- Effective communication skills to interact with cross-functional teams and convey technical information clearly.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong time management and prioritization abilities.
- High attention to detail and commitment to maintaining quality standards.
- Flexibility to work in shifts and respond to unplanned maintenance needs.
