Maintenance Mechanic
My client, a leader in Food Industry, is looking for a maintenance mechanic who will be responsible for planning the routine maintenance of equipment and machinery. All work carried out is either preventative or emergency maintenance. The qualified candidate will work with other professionals in order to improve the production facilities, reduce the incidence of costly breakdowns and develop strategies to improve overall reliability and safety of plant, personnel and production processes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Using technical drawings and schematics troubleshoot and repair complex process and facilities equipment (e.g., filter machines, packaging machines, scales, conveyors, processors, compressors, generators, etc.).
- Use machine tools, welding equipment, and measuring devices to fabricate machine parts.
- Perform various equipment preventive maintenance tasks (i.e., cleaning, inspection, and lubrication) as necessary, but routinely in cases requiring advanced technical expertise and knowledge of safety procedures (e.g., electrical cabinets, machine interiors, etc.).
- Thoroughly document maintenance activity, adequately communicate maintenance issues to appropriate employees (e.g., other maintenance techs, operators, engineers, supervisors, etc.).
- Champion process improvement in assigned areas by analyzing equipment maintenance history, identifying significant causes of waste, coordinating with appropriate employees to develop root-cause solutions, and providing maintenance assistance as necessary.
- Provide Preventative Maintenance support for plant and equipment.
- Diagnosing breakdown problems.
- Repair and maintain items necessary to maintain process equipment in “Grade A” condition.
- Maintain safe clean work areas and comply with all safety requirements (responsible for Food Safety).
- Assist in day-to-day support of operators, adjustments, setups, and change over.
- Assist other maintenance techs as required.
- Participate on improvement teams and coordinate with engineers and vendors on special projects.
- Rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
- Perform a variety of complicated tasks.
- A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
- May assist in the training of Level 1 and Level 2 and coaches others on best practices.
- Typically works under limited supervision.
- May lead the work of others when supervisors are not available.
- Other duties as directed by management.
Work Environment:
Work in maintenance work shop and all areas of the plant.
Job involves working:
- on stepladders,
- under variable temperature conditions,
- under variable noise levels,
- outdoors/indoors,
- around chemicals.
Education/Experience:
High School Diploma or Equivalent. Prior experience in the food industry helpful. Experience in high-speed packaging or plastics industry a must. PLC knowledge required.
Knowledge of Allen Bradley extremely helpful.
