GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY
The Maintenance Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring that the school's facilities, vehicles, and grounds are well-maintained, safe, and functional. This position requires a proactive individual with a wide range of technical skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
JOB SCOPE
This position collaborates with the facilities team to ensure facilities related requests are completed in a timely manner according to department guidelines.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Inspects buildings, grounds, and equipment for unsafe or malfunctioning conditions
Ensures compliance with safety regulations and building codes
Performs standard maintenance activities such as power washing buildings and grounds, basic landscaping, plumbing, painting, drywall repairs, etc.
Performs basic repairs on equipment and coordinates more complex repairs with assigned vendors
Responds promptly to maintenance emergencies
Maintains an inventory of maintenance supplies and tools, and reorder as necessary
Stays updated with best practices in facility and grounds maintenance
Completes maintenance duties as assigned via authorized email requests and updates completion status
Collects and removes trash and recycling and ensures facilities are clean and ready for events
Sets up all on campus school events, such as table/chair placement, special lighting, power sources, and other equipment
Handles shipping and receiving daily, stocks supplies in all areas, including supply closets, workrooms, printer stations, laundry rooms, etc. as needed, keeping areas organized and neat
Assists in procuring supplies through approved vendors and process
Schedules regular vehicle inspections and services
Ensure vehicles meet safety standards and are equipped with necessary safety equipment
Maintains school vehicles by cleaning interior and exterior, changing oil, checking tire condition, and running safety checks prior to use
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS
Make runs to pick up supplies, parts and tools as needed
Assists with carpool monitoring as needed
Attend department meetings and assigned events
Performs any other tasks assigned by the Head of School, Associate Head of School for Finance & Operations, or Director of Purchasing and Facilities
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Required:
Ability to provide documents verifying authorization to work in the U.S.
Must pass Criminal Background Checks and Drug Testing
Ability to adapt to quickly changing priorities and coordinate work assignments equitably within the Facilities team
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
5+ years in facilities maintenance work or equivalent experience
Valid Driver’s license
Basic computer skills—ability to use email
Must be able to read, write and speak English and communicate effectively
Ability to communicate in an appropriate manner with coworkers, students, and other members of the school community
Preferred:
Bilingual English/Spanish
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
This position does not supervise anyone

JOB CONDITIONS
Readily available during after-hours events and to work overtime as required
Frequently lift up to 50 lbs. of supplies or equipment
Crawl under or around furniture, fixtures and other confined spaces to perform maintenance and repairs
Climb ladders and reach to perform tasks
Work outside in hot or cold conditions and various weather conditions for extended periods of time
Ability to sit, stand, stoop, reach, and lift for extended periods on daily basis

PAY RANGE
Pay is based on experience and is competitive with Independent Schools in the Dallas, Texas, area.
WORK SCHEDULE
Schedule: Generally, Monday to Friday, 9:00 am – 6:00 pm. There will be some evening or weekend work.
