Maintenance Technician
Overview:
Beaumont School is seeking a part-time Maintenance Technician who can troubleshoot and complete routine repairs, general maintenance, and preventative maintenance on building systems and equipment.
Beaumont School, founded in 1850, is the oldest school in the Cleveland Diocese and the oldest all-girls secondary school in greater Cleveland. An all-girls Catholic high school in the Ursuline tradition that educates women for life, leadership and service. Beaumont is dedicated to a college preparatory and International Baccalaureate liberal arts education that is rooted in Jesus Christ and inspired by the example of Saint Angela Merici to serve others. Summary:
The Maintenance Technician must be reliable, organized, trustworthy, competent with multiple maintenance disciplines and be able to work independently to solve facility issues.
Reports to: Facilities Manager
Status: Non-exempt, part-time (opportunity for full-time), year-round
Requirements:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) with 3+ years of progressive maintenance experience in commercial property
- Ability to be on one’s feet for extended periods of time, as well as an ability to lift and move materials or equipment up to 50 pounds
- Valid driver’s license
- Intermediate computer skills
- Must be flexible with scheduling
- Must be able to be exposed to outside weather conditions, including wet, warm, and cold environments
- Solid understanding of technical aspects of plumbing, carpentry, electrical systems, etc.
- Working knowledge of facilities machines and equipment
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to learn new skills and implement these skills as needed throughout the school year

Position Responsibilities:
- Ability to diagnose and repair minor electrical, carpentry, plumbing, and HVAC issues
- Ability to work with outside contractors as required, as well as ability to read contracts and schematics from manufacturers
- Complete preventative maintenance on all equipment as scheduled independently
- Complete maintenance and repair work orders; work within established deadlines evaluating progress and ensuring quality of work
- Be knowledgeable and skilled in the safe use of general maintenance equipment and tools (hand tools, power tools, user-moved aids, measuring devices)
- Ensure health and safety policies are complied with per all Beaumont and state mandates
- Snow removal on campus, including but not limited to, shoveling, plowing, salting, etc.
- Be flexible in start times based on weather conditions, or scheduled events
- Perform other duties as assigned by Facilities Manager.

Work is performed in a general school environment. Individuals will be frequently exposed to outside weather conditions, including wet, warm and cold environments.
Work Environment:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment varies during the course of day and school functions.
