POSITION SUMMARY:
Performs inspections, repairs and preventive maintenance of all assigned buildings within the school system as directed by the Building Supervisor. Knowledge in processing paperwork electronically utilizing Word, Excel, Outlook and Google. This position reports to the Building Supervisor.
KEY RESPONSIBILTIES:
Performs a variety of general repairs on all district facilities within these various trades: Locksmith, mason, glazer, carpentry, cabinetry, painting, roofing, fence/gate repair, flooring, window treatments
Performs preventive maintenance making necessary repairs as required; will service and repair different types of hardware, equipment, machinery, and building structures
Utilizes hand and power tools including, but not limited to, electric saws, drills, planers, socket/ratchet sets, table saws, bench grinders, milling equipment, and any other equipment/machinery relevant to repairs and installations
Electronically completes work order forms, obtains quotes, processes purchases
Assists with District and emergency and/or general assignments as operationally necessary.
All other duties, as assigned and required, in order to perform the above services
KEY JOB RESPONSIBLITIES:
High School diploma or GED required; trade specific certificate preferred
Minimum of one (1) year general building technical experience required
Valid Georgia driver’s license; CDL preferred
Makes repair decisions which impact the schools/buildings within the district
Valid Georgia driver’s license; CDL preferred
Makes decisions and recommendations under the guidance of Buildings Supervisor
Requires contact with internal and external personnel of influence and decision-making responsibility to discuss issues of importance
Provides training and guidance to apprentices
Familiarity with computer applications preferred
Minimal-major depending on task being performed
Variable work environment – Maintenance Complex, school grounds, and all buildings; subjected to a wide range of weather conditions and temperatures
May be on call after normal work hours (24 hours a day, seven days a week) and in emergency situations
Must be able to lift fifty (50) pounds frequently and one (100) pounds occasionally
Walking, standing, kneeling, driving for eight (8) hours per day; must be able to climb a thirty (30) foot ladder and negotiate stairs
Before being extended an offer of employment, selected candidates will be notified by the district to undergo the required physical examination for this position. Applicants are responsible for the initial cost of the physical examination ($150-$200), and only candidates who pass and hired for this position will be reimbursed for the associated fees within 30 days of hire.
NOTE: This is a grade 21, 225 day position that pays for experience up to a Step 8.
