Maintenance Technician - Enviroflight

OVERVIEW:

Enviroflight's mission is to develop technology that produces sustainable and safe animal feed ingredients using the Black Soldier Fly (BSF) (Hermetia illucens). Our technology enables the mass rearing of insect larvae, feedstock conditioning and mixing, insect life support systems, nutrients recovery, animal feed production, and cold press oil extraction and refining.

SUMMARY:

The Maintenance Technician supports R&D equipment during normal operations and is responsible for the any corrective or preventative maintenance procedures within the facility.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Routinely inspects and maintains building and installed systems including but not limited to plumbing systems, production and processing equipment, roofs, drains, shops and grounds.
• Performs minor and routine repairs including but not limited to painting, plumbing, electrical wiring, and other related maintenance activities.
• Assists with installation and modification of building equipment systems, including heat and air conditioning units.
• Creates and maintains up-to-date service and replacement data files for building equipment and machinery; prepares required reports and correspondence.
• Acts as an agent for procurement of service contracts/repair work; assists with purchase of facility fixtures and equipment.
• Observes functioning of installed equipment to detect hazards, problems, and the need for service, repair and/or replacement of electrical, electronic and mechanical components.
• Discusses performance issues and improvement ideas with pertinent staff.
• Implements and evaluates preventative maintenance program.
• Responsible for ensuring compliance with all safety rules and procedures.
• Must be able to obtain forklift and aerial lift platform licenses.
• Keeps work area clean and orderly and free of hazards.
• All other duties as assigned.
  
  

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• 3+ years of demonstrated work experience in a maintenance role as a part of a manufacturing or industrial environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
• Ability to manage priorities and workflow.
• Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with a positive attitude.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Frequently required to stand, walk.
• Occasionally required to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Continually utilize visual acuity to operate equipment, read technical information, and/or use a keyboard.
• Occasional exposure to wet and/or humid conditions (non-weather).
• Frequently work near moving mechanical parts.
• Occasionally work around fumes, airborne particles, or toxic chemicals.

o Allergens may be present in insect rearing facilities, most relevant for individuals with shellfish allergies.

• Additional remarks regarding work environment - We are a growing agribusiness. All employees must be willing and able to work indoors and outdoors around the insects used in production, to be exposed to hot and cold temperatures, potentially unpleasant odors, and mechanical equipment used for production. Hard hats, safety shoes, rubber or latex gloves, and other protective equipment must be worn as required.
