About the Job
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for safely maintaining, repairing, replacing, and modifying all processing, packaging and facility equipment with optimal quality and efficiency. Mechanic C is responsible for maintaining the operational readiness of the FR system using various systems and multiple technical strategies and similar control technology. Responsible for record keeping of chemical use, on site chemical inventories, assisting with bulk chemical deliveries and rinsing of chemical containers when emptied.
Actively participates in the development and delivery of various training plans to ensure proper execution of system requirements. Performs a variety of technical troubleshooting and repair activities to ensure proper functioning of technical equipment and system reliability for FR equipment, Industrial Waste (IW) controls and related ancillary systems.
Responsible for the neutralization system for chemical mixing room and ensuring correct pH levels are achieved before discharge to the IW system.
Duties and Responsibility:
- Ability to operate our CMMS system and demonstrate 100% functionality to complete work orders as well as log corrective maintenance issues in the system.
- Ability to effectively communicate with Production and other mechanics to identify problematic areas of concern; provide and receive feedback and/or support through collection and analysis of information.
- Maintain equipment and perform basic mechanical tasks to keep equipment in optimal operating condition; ability to repair 40% of equipment without direction.
- Perform some electrical repairs including AC & DC motor controls, solid state motor controls, advance circuits, and grounding diagrams; ability to test equipment within skill range.
- Ability to read and understand schematics, drawings, and manuals to establish facts and draw a valid conclusion.
- Ability to demonstrate mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic troubleshooting skills.
- Must demonstrate an understanding of the company's objectives including productivity, yields, food safety, quality, customer service and cost goals; daily work activities should support achieving those goals.
- Ability to demonstrate computer and math skills as part of daily activities such as fractions, decimals, percentages and the metric system, efficient with metric system, ratios, and formulas.
- Perform daily inspections, emergency repairs, routine adjustments, and follow periodic preventive maintenance schedule.
- Model professional workplace conduct and adherence to company policies such as the Code of Conduct, attendance, punctuality, efficient and productive work habits, and good personal hygiene.
- Perform other duties as required or assigned.
- Performs chemical mixes for batch creation as needed
- Performs process and mix batch testing as needed
- Maintains the validation and operation of the FR system and its components including but not limited to load cells, probes and chemical dosing pumps.
- Responsible and accountable for production equipment effectiveness and reliability relative to assigned FR mixing systems and production equipment
- Responsible for data entry of chemical levels into touchscreens and computers systems to track, monitor and adjust chemical levels in the system
Qualifications:
- Must work effectively in a team setting.
- Must demonstrate a basic ability to cross-train other mechanics as well as production personnel.
- Knowledge of Microsoft computer programs, Outlook, Word, Excel. (Ability to enter data into the system).
- Ability to use Computerized Maintenance Management System to track orders, PMs, and inventory.
- Achieve a passing score on the Ramsay exam.
- Ability to read, write and speak English is required.
- Capable of working in a cold (34 degrees F) and wet environment.
- 1-3 years' experience with industrial equipment {or 1 years of technical training}, preferably in a food processing facility.
- Familiar with preventive or reliability-based maintenance.
- Experience working with high-speed processing, packaging, weighing, filling and inspection equipment.
Education/Training:
- High School diploma, GED, or equivalent experience to support the Maintenance Skills Summary.
