Maintenance Technician
Location: Garden City, KS
Position Overview
A leading industrial and energy-focused company is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to ensure the smooth operation of our facility’s equipment and infrastructure. This position is critical to maintaining production efficiency and safety, providing comprehensive maintenance and troubleshooting support. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will engage in preventative maintenance, equipment repair, and overall facility upkeep. The ideal candidate has experience with industrial equipment, strong mechanical skills, and a commitment to safety and cleanliness.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor, maintain, and repair mechanical systems such as centrifuges, conveyors, pumps, and gearboxes.
- Conduct routine equipment inspections, including belt changes, bearing lubrication, and oil checks.
- Perform precision alignments on both belted and direct-coupled machinery.
- Record operational readings, analyze data trends, and ensure consistent heat source and pressure levels.
- Participate in scheduled shutdown maintenance, equipment servicing, and new machinery installations.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical equipment issues; replace components as needed.
- Detect leaks, unusual vibrations, or sounds and troubleshoot system malfunctions.
- Perform fabrication and welding tasks when necessary.
- Collaborate with external vendors for specialized repairs or contracted work.
- Support inventory control activities related to equipment parts and materials.
- Adhere to and promote rigorous safety protocols; attend required safety meetings.
- Review Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and make ergonomic recommendations.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety of the plant and grounds.
- Assist team members with various tasks when necessary.
- Attend mandatory training sessions and team meetings.
- Provide support for plumbing repairs and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Minimum of 1 year of maintenance experience in an industrial setting.
- Strong mechanical and plumbing skills.
- Experience operating heavy equipment (telehandlers, forklifts, skid steers, etc.).
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb stairs, and work safely with chemicals.
