JOB OBJECTIVE AND MISSION:
The Maintenance Technician/Engineer is responsible for performing highly diversified duties, completing work orders, and making repairs related to the maintenance of our Little Sisters Home and offices, in accordance with established policies, procedures, safety standards, and code requirements. The Maintenance Technician/Engineer will strive in keeping the mission of Little Sisters of the Poor, namely the caring for the aged poor with love, respect, and dignity. “Making the elderly happy, that is what counts,” was a saying of the Little Sisters of the Poor foundress, Saint Jeanne Jugan.
The Maintenance Technician will demonstrate customer services skills by treating residents, staff, and others with respect, interfacing face-to-face with residents and service team, answering resident questions, responding sensitively to complaints about maintenance issues, and completing assigned work orders with efficiency and urgency.
This is a full-time position, generally Monday through Friday, hours may vary based upon the needs of the department. The Maintenance Technician/Engineer will also share 24/7 on-call duty to handle potential emergency situations.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Stationary Engineering License 3rd Grade or better.
HVAC Control Systems basic knowledge (Johnson Controls, DAIKIN Controls, Metaysys, Tyco, etc.).
Basic Boiler preventive inspections and maintenance. Major boiler work is performed by outside contractor.
Basic knowledge or familiarity with chiller plant and cooling tower systems. Major work is performed by outside contractor.
Basic knowledge of State and Local code requirements.
Basic electrical diagnosis and repairs (fixtures, receptacles, switches, ballasts, etc.).
Basic Plumbing diagnosis and repairs (fixtures, cartridges, stems, valves, etc.).
Basic knowledge of access control, data, and phone systems.
Minor drywall patching and painting.
Proficient Mechanical Skills (motors, pumps, belts, drives, filters, etc.).
MInor Carpentry.
Moves office furniture, machinery, equipment, and other materials as requested.
Completing work and repair orders in a timely fashion.
Administrative duties to include communication with contractors, vendors, suppliers, etc. Basic knowledge of Purchase Order and inventory procedures.
Minor on site supervision of contractors, vendors, etc.
Able to work on-call on a rotational basis, and emergency response.
Must be physically able to perform all the reuqired duties related to maintenance work.
