Title: Maintenance Technician
Location: Des Plaines, IL
Hire Type: Contract to Hire
Salary: $35-38 an hour
Must have: Injection molding experience
Job Duties:
- Electrical Expertise: Requires experience in electrical work within manufacturing or industrial environments.
- Machine Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Reads and interprets blueprints, schematics, and specifications to troubleshoot, dismantle, analyze, and repair large production machinery, including plastic injection molding machines and automated equipment. Tasks include diagnosing issues, replacing components such as pumps, motors, relays, and switches, and installing machine safety devices and shields.
- Technical Proficiency: Demonstrates troubleshooting and repair experience with PLCs, hydraulics, injection molding machines, and automated assembly equipment.
- Equipment Installation and Repair: Installs, repairs, maintains, and rebuilds large, complex production machines, attachments, and auxiliary equipment.
- Facility Maintenance: Possesses working knowledge of plant support systems and building infrastructure, including electrical, water, sewer, storm drains, windows, doors/locks, roofing, lighting, and fire protection systems.
- Contractor Coordination: Establishes effective working relationships with contractors as needed.
- Documentation and Safety: Maintains records related to safety, testing, inspections, and reporting. Understands and applies safety protocols for handling hazardous materials (MSDS/SDS).
- Communication Skills: Must have strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to clearly convey equipment challenges or improvement opportunities to relevant stakeholders.
- HVAC System Knowledge: Capable of diagnosing issues with plant chillers, towers, boilers, office air conditioning units, and make-up air systems.
- Safety Awareness: Proficient in understanding and responding to potential hazards associated with supplies and materials, including actions required for spills or contamination.
Qualifications:
- Experience with Automated Assembly Equipment
- Injection Molding Experience a plus
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs sometimes repetitively.
- 10 plus years of hands-on maintenance experience.
- Experience with Mig/Tig, brazing, stick, spot welding plasma is a plus.
