FULL JOB DESCRIPTION:
Position Overview - We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Supervisor for asphalt paving, sealcoating, and concrete equipment for the crews. The Maintenance Supervisor will join our team in San Jose, CA. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in overseeing, managing, and maintaining asphalt maintenance equipment such as pavers, seal coating machines, rollers, skid steers, trucks, etc. The Maintenance Supervisor will also be responsible for developing a preventive maintenance program for all critical pieces of equipment and work closely with the respective field leaders to keep equipment operational.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Safety and Compliance - Foster a culture of safety by promoting and enforcing company and industry best practices. The focus is no preventive steps and coaching to improve safety behaviors on the job and build safe work habits. Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with relevant safety regulations, including OSHA standards.
Team Leadership - Provide guidance, training, and performance feedback to ensure a high level of productivity and quality. Maintain a positive atmosphere, build a productive, safe, and fun culture. Create a succession plan for our team.
Quality Assurance - Implement and enforce strict quality control measures to ensure all work meets or exceeds industry and company standards. Conduct regular inspections and audits to verify compliance with specifications and regulations.
Equipment and Materials Management - Oversee the maintenance and operation of asphalt paving equipment, seal coat equipment, and concrete tooling and equipment in the field. Manage inventory levels of repair materials, and tooling to ensure availability and minimize waste.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in asphalt paving equipment, seal coat equipment, and concrete equipment repairs, with at least 5 years in a supervisory role.
Knowledge and use of preventive maintenance management tools, and systems.
Knowledge of safety and environmental permitting for maintenance shop and yard.
Knowledge and use of truck fleet management, BIPs, maintenance permitting,
Ability to perform repair work on equipment as needed to support operations schedule.
Proficient technical knowledge of asphalt paving, seal coating, and concrete techniques, materials, and equipment.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated commitment to safety and compliance.
DUTIES:
Lead maintenance team and coordinate repair schedule with VP Operations, Superintendent, and field operations foreman. Ensure consistent communication with all parties to ensure equipment is functioning safely and consistently.
Monitor, and control overtime for the shop and yard employee work assignments.
Maintain housekeeping and organization for the shop and yard. Maintain the truck, grounds, and equipment.
Manage driver inspections, work orders, and equipment inspections to ensure they are properly coded and turned in to the office daily. Ensure good communication for all equipment and truck repairs.
Use a purchase order system for the purchase of all parts, equipment, yard purchases, etc. Shop and yard purchases are to be coded properly.
Manage preventive maintenance failure and move away from reactive repairs.
Maintain all permitting and manage shop and yard compliance to safety and environmental regulations. Ensure compliance with building codes, regulations, and safety standards.
Manage the BIP system for all trucks, mileage inspection sheets are to be turned in on a monthly schedule.
Communicate effectively with the Superintendent, field operations leaders, and VP Operations on equipment needs, scheduling out-of-service, and maintenance schedules.
Must have the physical strength, stamina, and coordination to complete the assigned duties.
Troubleshoot and resolve any problems or issues that arise with equipment repairs.
Oversee and manage equipment repairs from start to finish.
Coordinate and schedule outside repair work as required to meet production schedules.
EXPERIENCE:
Proven experience as a Maintenance Supervisor or similar role in the construction industry.
Working knowledge and methods, techniques, and equipment used in asphalt, concrete, and seal coating equipment maintenance.
Ability to operate, maintain, and repair various paving, seal coating, and striping equipment such as pavers, rollers, tampers, sprayers, stripers, etc.
Strong knowledge of operating manuals, repair procedures, and diagrams. schematics, etc.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.
Spanish fluency is mandatory.
Moderate computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite)
Valid Driver’s License. CDL License is a plus but not a requirement.
