Responsibilities:Purpose of the role
Real Alloy is currently seeking a qualified Maintenance Supervisor with responsibilities as the Maintenance Planner at our secondary metal processing plant in Wabash, Indiana. This position will manage all mobile equipment employees and scheduling to assure work is planned and assigned to employees to meet the plant needs. As the Maintenance Planner you will guide the maintenance team by determining predictive maintenance, scheduling of work orders, and ordering material and kitting parts for maintenance projects throught out the plant. In addition this role will sustain and improve planning and procurement functions required to efficiently sustain and improve plant equipment following guidelines of all safety, environmental, governmental policies and regulations, and other Real Alloy policies.
This is a Monday-Friday day shift position. Overtime required as needed.
Core Accountabilities
- All work requests should be reviewed for accuracy and completeness and be entered in the Computer Maintenance Management System program with the priority noted. Each work request will be broken down into the steps required, the parts necessary, the equipment requirements and the various labor classifications required. All work orders must have all safety and environmental requirements noted.
- All completed work orders will be reviewed for suggested improvements, the need for additional repairs and complete information. The work orders will then be entered as history in the Computer Maintenance Management System program.
- Report, analyze and develop corrective action for Predictive Maintenance (oil sampling, vibration analysis and infra-red scanning).
- Review equipment history, report trends, and develop corrective actions.
- Maintain critical spare parts to minimize critical equipment downtime for the entire plant including the mobile equipment.
- Oversee the overall equipment maintenance schedules, advise on downtime requirements, and review breakdown vs. scheduled maintenance work, report-out monthly statistics.
- Highly desirable working and practical knowledge of mobile equipment such as Loaders, Lift Trucks, Excavators, and Sweepers.
- Monitor and participate in control of maintenance budgets.
- Champion preventive maintenance program and ensure work order completion and preventive maintenance effectiveness.
- Verify work instructions are adequate and comply with all applicable procedures.
- Participate in work scheduling meetings, task timing, detailed contract, requisition reviews, complex troubleshooting. Work with Plant Staff to set and meet Plant goals and objectives.
- Provide appropriate resources to aid work groups in maximum achievement of work activities.
- Solicit technical help as needed to support the return to operation of equipment as timely as possible.
- Analyzes severity and prioritizes equipment issues to minimize plant down time as well as maximize plant productivity.
- Communicates instructions, coordinates preventative maintenance schedules, and monitors all repairs for quality, methods, and cost effectiveness.
- Locates and purchases necessary materials for maintenance repairs. Contacts suppliers on availability, costs, and quality, and investigates material substitutions for equipment and process improvements.
- Schedules equipment facility shutdown with production department to ensure maximum uptime performance of all production centers in the plant.
- Works with outside contractors on preventive and predictive maintenance for: combustion, NFPA, vibration analysis, alignment, predictive, oil samples, etc.
- Identifies preferred suppliers for products and services and resolves any supplier performance issues.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school plus five to eight years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.
- 5+ years of related industrial experience, including planning, maintenance, and direct supervision.
- Technical and managerial skills are required in this position, with the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Must possess strong decision making and critical thinking skills including the ability to solve problems while exhibiting practical judgment and realistic understanding of the issues involved.
- Must be able to overcome obstacles and find reasonable resolutions to situations on a case-by-case basis as encountered. Must exercise discretion when determining if direction from manager is needed.
- Working knowledge and proficiency in Windows, and Microsoft Office.
- Working knowledge of aluminum processes is a plus.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and TPM a plus.
- Language Skills – Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Reasoning Abilities – Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Previous CMMS work order systems experience
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills required, ability to work cross functionally.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication and organizational skills are essential.

- Necessitates excellent interpersonal, planning, organizing.
