Job Title: Maintenance Supervisor
Reports to: Maintenance Manager
GENERAL SUMMARY
Supervises Leads and Mechanics in their daily activities. Ensures all Leads and Mechanics follow GMP’s, Safety, Food Safety, Operational and Company guideline/policies. Ensures all maintenance employees are productive, completing assignments, and adhering to procedures. Maintains daily checks and effective communication among shifts.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Proactively supervises plant maintenance staff.
- Assists with coordination of maintenance activities (i.e., work assignments, hours, overtime, absenteeism, etc)
- Communicates across departments and shifts to determine condition of operations and priorities.
- Supervises work assignments and ensures that each mechanic is effectively utilized.
- Ensures preventive maintenance program is followed each day and all forms are filled out completely and correctly.
- Continually monitors and supervises leads and mechanics, with focus on work quality and efficiency.
- Enforces all safety rules, good manufacturing practices within the department and continually monitors and supervises leads and mechanics.
- Supervises compliance with AIB.
- Assists production department in monitoring productivity, downtime and waste to standards.
- Monitors and tracks down time reports and work orders to lines and equipment to maintain maximum efficiency.
- Manages work assignments and hold staff accountable for these assignments and resulting equipment performance.
- Conducts daily supervisory tour of the plant.
- Assists leads and mechanics when necessary during repairs.
- Trains mechanics on an ongoing basis.
- Ensures all department procedures are followed.
- Periodically inspects the spare parts bins.
- Monitors and manages employee overtime to achieve stated objectives.
- Monitors, inspects and ensures parts storage areas are maintained in clean, neat and organized condition. Ensures tool and parts room is locked at all times.
- Conducts communication meetings with maintenance staff.
- Ensures safety training compliance.
- Monitors work orders to ensure FIFO and prioritizes work orders with regard to safety, quality and scheduling.
- Promotes safety among plant employees.
- Conducts timely performance evaluations of subordinates and encourages and works with subordinate to reach department and personal development goals.
- Controls budget through reduction and control of overtime and manages receiving budget within operational procedures.
- Enforces company policies through communications and documented training.
- Participates with Safety, Sanitation, Quality and new products Committees.
- Ensures Lead have complied with all their training program responsibilities.
- Resolves any employee issues and documents disciplinary actions and superior performance recognitions for all employees.
- Promotes open communication
- Supervises the compliance of all federal, state, local & Company safety & quality policies.
- Actively participants in the HACCP Team, responsible for but not limited to Internal auditing, training, implementation, and corrective actions.
- Provides suggestions to improve process, procedures and department in support of company goals.
- Verifies all personnel are present and well suited to work.
- Ensures employees are effectively performing assigned tasks and evaluates performance at appropriate intervals
- Maintains a positive and constructive work environment within the department as well as with other departments and promotes teamwork
- Trains new employees and monitors and evaluates their progress (includes Safety, HAACP & Food Safety).
- Conducts monthly Safety training meetings and participates in communication meetings.
- Works in a safe manner, observing all safety requirements
- Verifies GMP’s and Safety standards are maintained at all times and take action and/or follow-up when deficiencies are noted
- Consistently applies company rules per employee handbook and per company policies (i.e. attendance, safety, etc.) and ensures safety regulations, policies and procedures are followed
- Monitors Kronos schedules, timecards, and prepare all HR – related paperwork, including disciplinary actions, ESNs, Attendance Forms, etc.
- Ensures compliance with the HACCP program and AIB gold standard
- Ensures all food safety principles and legal requirements have been applied effectively
- Must work various shifts and hours including holidays and weekends
- Other duties, as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Education:
Requires High School Diploma or GED
Some college preferred
CERTIFICATIONS:
ELECTRICAL/MECHANICAL PREFFERRED.
Experience:
3 years
Minimum 3 years supervisory experience in industrial environment
2years’ experience in Food operations preferred.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
- REQUIRES BASIC COMPUTER SKILLS
- Must speak, read and write English and Spanish
- Ability to read electrical diagrams, have good electrical skills.
- Familiar with OSHA regulations, AIB standards.
