Position Description Summary/Purpose:This position supervises the work of Maintenance personnel. This position is responsible for keeping all University and related buildings safe and operational. Contacts are with personnel at all levels within the organization to exchange information as well as our sub-contract companies.
Essential Job Functions/Primary Responsibilities:(The essential functions or duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. - Performs general maintenance for lighting, plumbing and electrical systems as well as minor HVAC repairs.
- Monitors building temperatures.
- Coordinates office and classroom moves.
- Oversees contracted services for elevators, HVAC, fire systems, generators and emergency and safety related equipment.
- Maintains compliance with fire codes and participates in annual town fire inspections.
- Orders and maintains inventory of shop supplies, tools and equipment.
- Supervises and trains Maintenance personnel and conducts annual performance reviews.
- Ensures all safety procedures are practiced and conducts routine safety discussions.
- Performs similar or related work as required, directed or as situation dictates.
- Continues professional development and training; keeps current with trends.
- Assists other department staff as needed to promote a team effort.
- Demonstrated commitment to developing and fostering best practices and policies to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion, and build an environment in which all members of the University community are treated with respect and dignity.
- Knowledge of the proper operation of Maintenance equipment and related duties and responsibilities.
- Knowledge and experience in a number of skills, such as lighting, plumbing and HVAC.
- Mechanical skills and the ability to use hand tools
- Supervisory skills
Minimum Required Qualifications:
Education, Training and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED with five years of relevant experience in building maintenance.
Special Requirements:
- CT Driver's license and insured vehicle
