Position Summary: Supervises and directs hourly personnel engaged in plant maintenance and service activities on an assigned shift. Maintains equipment at the highest level of uptime. Performs equipment repairs utilizing on shift maintenance personnel. Obtains outside support as needed. Coordinates daily detailed on shift and between shift communications.
Reports to: Breakdown Manager
Essential Functions/Duties:
- Works in collaboration with other business center engineers, managers, maintenance engineers, and specialists, as well as hourly personnel to tackle problem resolution as well as process and equipment improvement solutions. Drive these solutions to completion. This includes responding to major breakdowns and emergency situations and identifying solutions to minimize downtime.
- Provides supervision to assigned shift skilled trades staff, including work assignments and performance management, including addressing labor relations issues.
- Identifies causes for and develops strategies for eliminating re-occurring downtime.
- Assists with assuring tools, equipment, people, and processes comply with OSHA, ISO, and other industry/facility standards
- Updates management and on-shift employees through regular and concise status reports and utilizes breakdown management systems.

- Support and enforce the usage of plant Maintenance Management Information System (SAP-PM).
- Coordinate with on-shift Electrical Engineer on equipment issues.
- Cover vacancies (as needed) for maintenance engineers.
- Cover vacancies (as needed) for off-shift maintenance specialists
- Executes plant escalation procedure.
Required Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a supervision/leadership role
- BS Mechanical, Electrical, other Engineering discipline with minimum 3 years’ experience in maintenance/mechanical engineering role OR H.S. diploma with 7+ years maintenance experience in a manufacturing setting, including experience in a supervisory role (skilled trade certifications or coursework preferred).
- Experience with heavy machinery systems preferred.
- Ability to understand electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems and prints preferred.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Demonstrated leadership and team building skills.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate, and prioritize work requirements for skilled trades.
- Excellent written and verbal interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to interact both internally and externally including vendors / contractors, engineers & production personnel.
- Strong PC skills utilizing Microsoft Word & Excel software applications. Experience with MMIS preferred (SAP)
The pay range anticipated for this role is $65,000 to $110,000 per year. Please keep in mind that this range represents an estimate based upon requested experience and skill sets. The actual salary offer will take into account a wide range of factors, experience, knowledge, skills, and may differ from this estimate.
