Marine Spill Response Corporation is a not-for-profit, U.S. Coast Guard Classified Oil Spill Removal Organization. MSRC was formed in 1990 to offer oil spill response services and mitigate damage to the environment. MSRC offers a full range of oil spill response capabilities intended to help meet the planning criteria of the Oil Pollution Act of 1990.
MSRC is offering an excellent career opportunity for a Maintenance Responder with the leader in the oil spill response industry. We are seeking a qualified individual who can perform preventative maintenance, basic corrective maintenance, and is qualified in hydraulic and diesel repair. Primary duty will be to assure proper mechanical operation of oil spill response equipment. Experience with marine equipment is a plus . This position possesses a broad range of mechanical skills, including experience with diesel engines, outboards, hydraulics, material handling, welding, fabrication and basic electrical skills.
The Maintenance Responder would also provide support in the event of an oil spill including the operation, deployment, retrieval, cleaning and storage of response equipment. Serving both as an equipment operator, available to quickly remedy maintenance issues as they arise. Logistic duties may include coordinate transport of response equipment to and from spill sites, supporting the response by supplying parts, materials and other goods.
Requirements
Due to the emergency response nature of the position, a continuing condition of employment is to be reachable 24 hours-a-day, and in the event of a response, the employee must report to work within two (2) hours. Response activity may occur anytime, including weekends or holidays. Additional requirements include:
- A Valid Drivers License (CDL a PLUS)
- 2 to 3 years recent experience in repairing and maintaining equipment.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude
- Experience in warehouse management (purchasing, shipping and receiving, inventory control)
- High level of attention to accuracy and detail
- Analytical thought process with problem solving mindset
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
Responsibilities
- Ability to operate equipment in accordance with all policies, regulations, and procedures to ensure safe and productive work experiences
- Maintain and repair the mechanical, hydraulic and electrical components of, response equipment including large diesels, hydraulic motors, cylinders, and other mechanical devises
- Perform routine maintenance, test and inspect equipment for malfunctioning parts
- Repair or replace worn, defective, or broken parts
- Reassemble and reinstall components following repairs
- Process orders for freight shipment, ensure that correct shipments are delivered and received
- Process freight invoices and settle discrepancies
- Assist in various types of oil spill clean up activities as need
- Complete and submit appropriate paper work and reports (manually and electronically) accurately and timely as required, including time records, maintenance and safety reports
- Work effectively in team environment providing support and assistance
- Expected to perform other duties as assigned
Physical Requirements Include, Among Others:
- Requires standing, lifting up to 45lbs
- Requires the ability to wear the personnel protective equipment prescribed by posted signs and written instruction
- Able to work in various temperatures indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions including heat, cold, rain or dry environments
- Ability to perform work in various sea conditions, under all environmental conditions, often wet/oily decks
