Supplemental Information
The Maintenance Repairer 1 is responsible for the routine maintenance, custodial, and grounds upkeep of the LSU Rural Life Museum. The position reports to the director, and works closely with the systems maintenance position, programming, and curatorial staff.
Job Responsibilities
Performs various functions in support of events, programming, and activities including set-up and take-down of furniture and equipment for functions, activity set-up, parking assistance, vendor and artisan assistance, etc. (35%)
Performs upkeep on the museum buildings and grounds including use of mowers, power equipment, manual labor, lifts and other tools. Maintains museum lighting needs, performs routine plumbing and electrical work. May work on historic structure preservation, exhibit construction and cultural landscape management. (35%)
Performs routine custodial duties including bathroom and kitchen stocking and sanitation, floor and window cleaning, light maintenance, etc. on a regular basis as wells as for events and functions at the museum. (25%)
Supports and performs special tasks in support of museum educational, curatorial, and other needs. Other duties as assigned (5%)
Additional Information
1) Due to the nature of this position and/or position responsibilities this position shall be subject to drug/alcohol testing in accordance with the University Police Statement 67.
2) Ability to work in all weather conditions. In accordance with University Policy Statement 18, this position is considered essential and may be required to report to stay on campus in the event of an emergency or closure.
3) Due to the position's physical requirements, a pre-employment physical examination will be required per FASOP HR-04

Minimum Qualifications
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
One year of experience in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or as a parks building and grounds attendant.
SUBSTITUTIONS:
Training in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or parks building and grounds work will substitute for the required experience. Training will be credited in six month increments.
NOTE:
Custodial building maintenance is not qualifying.
Examples of building construction trades include cabinetmaker, carpenter, concrete finisher, electrician, HVAC controls technician, HVAC mechanic, ironworker, millwright, painter, pipefitter, plasterer, plumber, refrigeration mechanic, roofer, sheet metal worker, steamfitter, tile setter and welder.
Examples of building maintenance include Maintenance Repairer 1/2, B/G/E Maintenance Repairer 1/2 and Maintenance Repair Foreman.
Examples of repair/maintenance of mechanical equipment include Operating Engineer 1/2, auto mechanic, Mobile Equipment Maintenance Mechanic, Mobile Equipment Overhaul Mechanic and Mobile Equipment Master Mechanic.
