SUMMARY
The position provides support to the production departments by completing repairs, operating adjustments and machine changeovers to equipment used in the manufacturing of industrial and consumer products. Additionally, the position completes work orders in building maintenance, part fabrication/repair, machine installation and general preventive maintenance. Requires hands-on versatility in many trade disciplines including electrical, mechanical, pneumatics and hydraulics. Possesses a proven track record of diagnosing and troubleshooting problems with industrial production equipment, specifically, liquid and powder filling machines, capping machines, labelers, conveyors, electric/pneumatic pumps, and power transmission drive components.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. These duties are not in any specific order:
- Adjusts and repairs production and distribution equipment. Troubleshoots problems systematically according to quality principles of identifying and isolating variables. Draws upon knowledge and familiarity with electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical principles to complete tasks.
- Responds to requests from production personnel for assistance in improving equipment operating uptime, reducing associated downtime, and ensuring that equipment is operating safely and at optimum operating speeds while capable of producing quality output. Works cross-functionally to improve processes.
- Assists in training on the operation of various production machines including powered conveyor, filling machines, capping machines, induction sealers, coders, pack-off tables, and taping machines.
- Performs maintenance duties according to established methods and SOP's to maintain a high level of efficiency, quality, and safety. Understands the role of maintenance in sustaining a clean and organized 5S work environment as a necessary step in a company's housekeeping and safety culture.
- Install, maintain, and repair production and building infrastructure equipment, including centralized heat, gas, water, security, and electrical systems.
- Fabricates parts and machine modifications using skills and proven techniques in carpentry, metal work, plumbing, welding, and general mechanical repair.
- Reads and interprets documents such as safety rules, operating instructions and maintenance manuals. Interacts with vendors to identify and purchase machine parts, equipment assemblies and supplies, as required.
- Follows all safety guidelines for the operation of powered production equipment, hand tools and maintenance shop equipment.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
A minimum of three years experience and/or one year in a lead role within a line manufacturing environment is required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, company policy manuals and maintenance work order tickets. Ability to write and complete maintenance records and other departmental forms. Aptitude to speak effectively.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to measure parts with typical measuring devices (gauges, micrometers, calipers and rulers).
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized solutions. Skill in applying physical and mechanical concepts to manufacturing challenges.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, stoop, reach, bend and twist. The employee regularly is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms, including performing some work overhead. Frequent lifting and/or moving objects up to 75 pounds and infrequently moving objects weighing greater than 100 pounds. A willingness to work flexible hours including overtime and weekends is necessary.

The work areas may include uneven surfaces.
