Key Responsibilities
- 1. Perform all duties in a safe and collaborative manner and immediately report any potentially dangerous conditions or other safety concerns to the supervisor
2. Start up and shuts down equipment in accordance with operation’s requirements, company safety procedures and OSHA requirements for machine activation and shutdown.
3. Perform basic mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic maintenance tasks in a safe, efficient manner, which supports the continuous improvement process within the facility.
4. Perform all duties in a safe and collaborative manner and immediately report any potentially dangerous conditions or other safety concerns to the supervisor.
5. Start up and shuts down equipment in accordance with operation’s requirements, company safety procedures and OSHA requirements for machine activation and shutdown.
6. Perform work requiring a thorough knowledge of electrical/electronic and mechanical theory and principles, written specifications, local and national electrical codes, properties of various materials, and principles of operation and application of electronic equipment.
7. Troubleshoot and repairs mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical/electronic equipment including but not limited to belts, pulleys, gears, chains, motors, pumps, PLC’s, numerical controls, power supplies, drives, gages/HMI and test equipment.
8. Receive wiring diagrams, drawing, specification, and instructions, both verbally or in writing, concerning emergency and scheduled repair, installation, and inspection work to be performed.
9. Plans details of working procedures to determine material or replacement needs and determines a logical approach to repair problems.
10. Service electronic equipment by checking, testing, and replacing faulty components, circuit modules, printed circuit boards and similar electronic devices.
11. Perform plant-wide electronic and electrical maintenance making operating adjustment as required.
12. Provide technical support on PLC’s and network interfaces throughout the manufacturing floor.
13. Capable of developing programs/documents for training and knowledge transfer in all aspects of the control systems
14. Maintain and install communication cables, power distribution cables and wiring, and performs splicing as required.
15. Promote and comply with good safety practices and habits, including but not limited to, use of all PPE.
16. Perform other duties as assigned.
17. Diagnose and repair activities with detailed working procedures. Determines materials, replacement parts, and tools/parts needed to proceed with logical approach to repairs, maintenance and rebuilds.
18. Set-up, adjust, calibrate, and operate equipment; perform layout and bench work; inspect, dismantle, repair, rebuild, assemble, weld, install and lubricate machinery and mechanical equipment throughout the manufacturing facility.
19. Inspect for defects, misalignment, wear, insufficient lubrication and determine best process for making repairs with limited interruption to production.
20. Assist in maintaining building needs (heating and cooling systems).
21. Disassemble moves and/or relocates existing equipment and install new equipment.
22. Provide for safe disposal of all toxic materials and supplies.
23. Maintain tools and work area in a safe, neat and secure manner.
24. Maintain daily work logs and update equipment and component records, and if applicable, electronic Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
25. Maintain preventative maintenance and lubrication schedules.
26. Promote and comply with good safety practices and habits, including but not limited to, use of all PPE, ensuring guards and safety features are working.
27. May train others on maintenance activities, including preventative maintenance.
28. Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- Education
- Technical or professional certification preferred and/or completion of Associates degree in related field.
- Experience:
1+ years experience and/or equivalent training in a manufacturing or industrial environment
3+ years and/or equivalent experience preferred in PLC and HMI configuration and programming, control circuit analysis, design, troubleshooting and solving software/hardware issues, high voltage electrical maintenance, mechanical repairs, hydraulics, and pneumatics in an industrial environment.
Knowledge and Skills
- A thorough knowledge of electrical/electronic components and equipment including the use of special instruments for diagnostic purposes.
- Proficient computer experience.
- Working knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics and mechanical systems.
- Plastics/blow molding experience preferred.
- Basic mechanical, electrical, hydraulics and pneumatic skills. Understanding of preventative maintenance process. Ability to operate machines and hand-tools relevant to a manufacturing environment. Ability to troubleshoot mechanical problems and take initiative to correct or seek immediate assistance. Ability to assemble and disassemble equipment. Ability to read and follow equipment manufacturer’s specifications. circuits, etc.
