About the Job
Our client, a nationwide manufacturer of custom home furnishings, has an immediate need for an experienced Maintenance Mechanic, to join their winning team in Watertown.
Our candidate of choice will be responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety, predictive and productive maintenance systems and processes to support the production goals and corporate values.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Schedules, completes, and documents Preventative Maintenance on equipment and machinery on a regular basis
- Perform maintenance and repairs on sewing machines, such as quilting machines, tape edge, overlock, chainstitch, and lockstitch
- Perform simple machinist duties to diagnose problematic situations
- Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service
- Trouble-shoots and diagnoses minor repairs, replace or repair parts and tests and adjusts as needed
- Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and perform scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service
- Perform mechanical skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, troubleshooting and repair of production machines
- Installs new equipment
- Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meter, and material handling equipment in performing duties
- Completes enhancement projects or change outs for production safety, capability or capacity
- Detects faulty operation and/or defective materials and reports to proper management
- Coordinates special projects as directed by Plant Manager
- Meet standards for completion of all assignments
- Address any problems to ensure quality control per instructions and guidelines; reports defective materials and equipment
- Utilize personal protective equipment and continuously adheres to safety guidelines
KEY REQUIREMENTS:
- 1 -2 years’ experience in similar role
- Ability to read, interpret and understand diagrams and blueprints
- Working knowledge of industrial sewing machines in an industrial environment. Familiar with single needle and sergers.
- Able to work at a fast pace, and handle stressful situations in a professional manner
