Job Summary: The Maintenance Mechanic will upkeep, repair and handle preventative actions on all aspects of machinery, buildings and facilities.
Essential Job Functions
- Strict adherence to established Health and Safety policies is mandatory.
- Understand Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP)
- Understand predictive and preventative maintenance concepts.
- Must have knowledge/ability to repair the following systems:
- Pneumatic systems (valves, cylinders, actuators, filters)
- Electrical (motor control, relay logic, sensors, read electric drawings).
- Drive systems (bearing installation, pulley alignment, belt installation, etc.).
- Mechanical (Understand machine mechanical drawings)
- Manage multiple priorities with the willingness to work as part of a collaborative team.
- Setup equipment/train production personnel optimizing Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
- Train new mechanics/operators.
- Refine troubleshooting skills and methods to reduce/eliminate recurring problems.
- Master equipment operational sequences to identify root causes.
- Use all hand / power tools in the maintenance shop.
- Ability to learn and operate milling machine, lathe machine and welding equipment.
- Strong research ability using computers/equipment manuals to diagnose/order components.
- Other duties as directed by management.
Levels will be determined based on education, experience and equivalents.
Maintenance Mechanic 1
Beginning level: Will perform many of the above listed duties and responsibilities and may have independence on some duties while under close supervision of others. The primary focus at this level is learning the operational and setup processes for all pieces of manufacturing equipment. The employee will also work in a learning capacity to perform a range of maintenance mechanic duties while receiving close supervision. Experience of 2 years or less as a maintenance mechanic.
Maintenance Mechanic 2
Intermediate level: The employee performs a full range of maintenance mechanic duties including but not limited to maintenance focusing on problem solving issues, troubleshooting mechanical problems, set-up equipment, make repairs, preventative maintenance and uses considerable independent judgment to interpret and apply work guidelines with considerable latitude to specific situations. MM2 may have the responsibility to mentor and train the lower-level maintenance mechanic positions and provide supervision on various duties. Experience of 2 years or more as a maintenance mechanic.
Maintenance Mechanic 3
Advanced level: The employee has the skills required to perform a full range of maintenance mechanic duties including but not limited to maintenance focusing on problem solving issues, troubleshooting mechanical problems, set-up equipment, make repairs, predictive and preventative maintenance and uses considerable independent judgment to interpret and apply work guidelines with considerable latitude to specific situations.
MM3 may have responsibility to mentor and train the lower-level maintenance mechanics positions and provide supervision on various duties.
Qualifications
- A minimum of a High School diploma required a Post high-school education preferred.
- A minimum of 3 years of maintenance experience required. High output manufacturing experience is a plus.
- Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems.
- Professional communication coupled with sound decision-making skills.
- Basic fabrication skills to include MIG/TIG welders.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and
procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before
groups of suppliers, customers or employees of the organization.
- Basic math skills required.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram
form. Ability to deal with problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations.
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic knowledge of Internet usage and Microsoft
Office products (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook).
