About the Job
Innophos Inc., a leading international producer of specialty ingredient solutions is hiring a Maintenance Mechanic for our Nashville facility.
Maintenance Mechanic work involves performing tasks throughout the plant for regular and predictive maintenance, troubleshooting, analysis and repair of assets and related components pertaining to phosphate production facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive and discuss daily work orders pertaining to removing, repairing, and installing machinery and equipment in the field
- Communicate with unit operations to ensure work site has been prepared to avoid interfering with activities of other workers
- Follows lockout-tag out procedures, checking for documentation of entry permit and check to make sure lines are closed and locked
- Dismantles the failed equipment (motors, pumps, etc.) using hand and power tools such as hammers, wrenches, crowbars, etc. and transports to the shop using hoist, lift trucks, dollies, and rollers
- Assess the failed equipment, orders replacement parts using procurement computer program, and assembles the equipment with the new parts
- Re-install the machinery after prepping the supporting surface and bolt, weld, rivet, or otherwise fasten machinery to the foundation
- Align machines and equipment using micrometer and plumb bob
- Perform check for leaks and ensure equipment is operating efficiently
Shift
- Day Shift Mechanic – 1st shift (6:30 am-2:30 pm) Monday - Friday
OR
- Rotating Shift Mechanic – 1st shift (6:30 am-2:30 pm), 2nd shift (2:30 pm-10:30 pm), 3rd shift (10:30 pm-6:30 am) Monday – Sunday
- Initially assigned to 1st shift for training for 6 months, then will be assigned to 1st, 2nd or 3rd shift based on business needs. May move to another shift schedule based on availability and plant seniority.
- Alternative work schedules may be required based on site business needs.
- Eligible for overtime pay on hours worked that exceed 8/day, 8 consecutive and 40/week
- Bi-weekly paid on Friday's

Required Education and Experience
- Must have High School Diploma or equivalent and one year certificate from college or technical school or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 2-3 years directly related experience in millwright, welding or pipefitting or a combination of all
- Previous experience with crane and fork lift operations is preferred
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules and instructions in the use and maintenance of shop tools and equipment, and methods and procedures in mechanical drawing and layout
- Read and understand engineering drawings
- Perform rigging as required during the course of repair or replacement of equipment
- Write reports and summaries with proper format, punctuation, spelling, and grammar
- Ability to follow Good Manufacturing Practices including the proper wearing of clean protective clothing, following personal hygiene standards, and adherence to food/drink/tobacco restrictions
Environmental and/or Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
- Frequent lifting, squatting, standing, bending, and walking
- Work involves indoor and outdoor climate hot/cold temperatures
- Able to wear a respirator (must comply with facial hair policy) and other required personal protective equipment
Wages start at $34.69/hour and may progress to higher job classifications based on qualifications, in accord with the labor contract.
