About the Job
Our client is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic Manager to oversee the maintenance operations for their production facility. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will personally assist mechanics as needed, preventing unnecessary downtime and ensuring smooth operations of mechanical, electrical, PLC, AC and DC drives, and other equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background and the ability to lead a team while ensuring maximum efficiency and safety in maintenance processes.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Schedule & Manage Repairs: Plan and oversee daily repair activities to minimize downtime and production loss.
- Preventative Maintenance (PM): Supervise and manage the effectiveness and efficiency of the PM program.
- Parts & Equipment Coordination: Recommend and coordinate the purchasing of maintenance parts and equipment.
- Supervision & Inspection: Ensure repair and maintenance tasks are performed using the latest and safest technologies and practices.
- Problem-Solving & Corrective Actions: Identify root causes of mechanical/electrical issues and implement corrective actions to prevent future breakdowns.
- Communication: Provide regular feedback to the Production Manager on machine/equipment status, issues, and priorities.
- Environmental Compliance: Coordinate and manage environmental mandates and corporate policies related to maintenance operations.
- Prioritize Work Orders: Review maintenance work orders and prioritize tasks based on production schedules and urgency.
- Safety Compliance: Enforce plant safety regulations, conduct safety meetings, and foster a safety-conscious environment.
- Budget Management: Oversee and manage the department’s budget; prepare and submit capital and major maintenance items for the annual budget.
- Resource Management: Ensure the department has the necessary resources and materials for maintenance tasks and projects.
- Training & Development: Conduct training sessions and enforce company policies and union contract compliance. Take appropriate disciplinary actions when needed.
- Additional Duties: Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required; or at least five (5) years of relevant experience and/or training; or a combination of education and experience that demonstrates the required qualifications for the position.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Strong technical acumen in mechanical, electrical, PLC, AC, and DC drive systems.
- Ability to lead, manage, and develop a team of maintenance professionals.
- Business management, leadership, and change management skills.
- Intellectual flexibility with the ability to make decisions in a dynamic environment.
- Effective problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to enforce safety standards and ensure compliance with plant regulations.
- Must be willing to work a day shift but flexible to support other shifts as needed. On-call availability for breakdowns/emergencies is required.
- Knowledge of union contracts and experience working within unionized environments is preferred.
Work Environment:
This is a hands-on manager role. The candidate should expect to engage directly with the maintenance team and be actively involved in troubleshooting and repairs as required. The ideal candidate will have the technical expertise and leadership skills to keep maintenance operations running smoothly and efficiently.
Compensation:
- Salary Range: $137K - $155K (Depending on experience and qualifications)
- Bonus Potential: 5-10%
