Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Maintenance Mechanic Manager to oversee our maintenance operations in Los Angeles, California. This role is critical in ensuring the efficient functioning of machinery and equipment by leading a team of mechanics and optimizing maintenance practices. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical and electrical knowledge and the ability to manage a diverse team while minimizing production downtime.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership: Personally assist mechanics as needed, providing hands-on support for mechanical, electrical, PLC, AC and DC drives, and resolving machine breakdown issues to prevent unnecessary production downtime.
Scheduling and Planning: Schedule daily repair activities and manage preventative maintenance (PM) programs to ensure maximum efficiency.
Resource Management: Coordinate and recommend the purchasing of maintenance parts and equipment; manage resources effectively to meet maintenance task demands.
Supervision and Inspection: Supervise and inspect repair and maintenance work to ensure the use of the most effective, efficient, and up-to-date maintenance technologies and practices in a safe manner.
Issue Identification and Resolution: Determine the causes of maintenance issues and develop and implement corrective actions to mitigate future occurrences.
Communication: Provide the Production Manager with feedback on machine/equipment status and any necessary updates regarding maintenance operations.
Environmental Compliance: Coordinate and manage all environmental-related mandates and corporate policies governing environmental and maintenance operations.
Work Order Management: Review maintenance work orders and other documentation to determine priority based on production schedules and urgency, planning repairs accordingly.
Budget Management: Manage the maintenance department budget, organize and prepare submissions for scheduled capital and major maintenance items for the annual budget.
Training and Development: Conduct training for the workforce as necessary, ensuring staff are equipped with the skills needed for effective maintenance operations, and take appropriate disciplinary actions when required.
Union Compliance: Ensure compliance with the Union contract and company policies.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience in maintenance management.
Experience:
Minimum of 7+ years of experience in maintenance management within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Strong background in mechanical and electrical systems, including PLC, AC, and DC drives.
Technical Skills:
Proficient in preventive maintenance principles and practices.
Experience with maintenance management systems (CMMS) is a plus.
Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and manage a team effectively, with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to identify issues and implement corrective actions.
Budgeting Skills: Experience in managing budgets and understanding financial implications of maintenance operations.
Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with environmental regulations and safety standards.
