Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the Superintendent of Production or Maintenance Foreman, the Maintenance Mechanic operates, repairs, installs and maintains equipment at the pumping station, water storage facilities, booster stations, metering pits and well fields.

Work Performed:
- Maintains instrumentation including: Flow and pressure meters and recording devices, telephone transmitters and receivers, chemical release detection equipment and computer equipment.
- Maintains chemical feed equipment including chlorinators, and chemical metering pumps.
- Maintains facility heating and air conditioning equipment as needed.
- Maintains and tests system protection equipment including surge relief valves, altitude, air and pressure relief valves.
- Maintains and tests emergency equipment including backup generators, emergency lights and chlorine release response equipment.
- Maintains pumping equipment including lubrication, packing, vibration analysis, assembly and disassembly and electrical and SCADA troubleshooting.
- Maintains equipment repair records and parts inventories.
- Performs inspection of plant equipment, Intake station and metering pits.
- Performs emergency chemical release response and emergency equipment repair after suitable training period.
- Performs plant and facilities start up or shut down as required.
- Performs chemical receiving at main treatment plant and designated remote facilities.
- Performs installations or modifications to equipment and facilities as required for the operation of existing or newly installed facilities.
- Attends both in-house and vendor sponsored training courses and seminars as required.
- Assume on-call responsibilities after a suitable training period and work short notice overtime as required.
NOTE: Some mandatory overtime will be required as necessary to maintain facilities operation.
- Performs duties on weekends and holidays as scheduled.
- Snow removal at CJO Plant and remote facilities.
- Clean various basins, storage tanks and reservoirs as necessary.
- Performs all related duties as required by supervisor.
- As required, schedule maintenance activities when Maintenance Foreman or Superintendent of Production are unavailable.
- Adheres to and promotes the Company safety policy and practices as it pertains to the job.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must have at least six years’ experience in the operation and maintenance of equipment pertinent to water facility operations.
- A specific trade skill in chemical feed system, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, etc. may be required at time of hire.
- Must have the ability to obtain T-1 license within three years of date of employment.
- Must have the ability to obtain New Jersey Black Seal License within three years of date of employment.

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to lift up to 100 pounds, climb, crawl, stoop, reach, grasp, and stand.
- Work also emphasizes visual acuity, ability to smell, hearing, and speech.
Candidates must possess authorization to work in the United States.
Candidates must be able to pass a drug screen, pre-employment physical, background check, and have a valid driver’s license.
