The Mechanic is responsible for the safe set up, troubleshooting, monitoring, changeovers, and repairs of various types of equipment such as fillers, cappers, bottle labelers, conveyors, induction sealers, transfer pumps, and other type of production equipment.
Key Duties And Responsibilities
Carries out all responsibilities in compliance with company policies, procedures, and state, federal, and local laws. Fully complies with current Good Manufacturing Practice’s (GMP’s) and health and safety regulations.
Performs set up/changeover of varied manufacturing equipment (fillers, conveyors, tanks, pumps, motors, etc.) according to expectations. This includes making proper adjustments, corrections, and repairs to ensure the equipment is operating safely, efficiently, and according to quality and customer standards and within scheduling timeline.
Troubleshoots and repairs mechanical, electrical (120V, 208V), pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment.
Locates and diagnoses failure, replaces defective components and performs complex troubleshooting using standard equipment, detailed drawings, diagrams, sketches, specifications, prints, manuals, and verbal and/or written instructions.
Provides reactive/unscheduled repairs of equipment during production operation.
Performs tasks with an understanding of the importance of increasing uptime and decreasing waste and production costs.
Expected to maintain work area as clean and organized as possible while performing tasks. Must clean up work area including all tools, materials, parts, fluids, etc. at the completion of troubleshooting, diagnosing, repair, setup, disassembly or any other task conducted while working on equipment.
Performs PM tasks as required and completes work order documentation.
Assists in identifying and procuring supplies, parts, and equipment as needed.
Assists in running services to new or relocated equipment (air, water, electrical).
Performs task with safety in mind and improving safety for others.
Follows lockout/tag out safety procedures during service and repair.
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent and minimum of one year machine repair experience and/or training, preferably in the areas of cosmetic, food, and/or pharmaceutical packaging or processing manufacturing.
Knowledge of DC & AC motors & drives.
General understanding of electrical and electrical controls.
Ability to handle high volume of work and adapt to a rapidly changing environment.
Ability to collaborate, communicate, and negotiate with others in an effective and professional manner.
Basic computer use, knowledge, and skills.
Must be flexible to change shift and/or schedule due to changing business needs.
Ability to work overtime including 12-hour shifts and/or weekends.
