POSITION SUMMARY & RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Maintenance Manager is responsible for ensuring that all manufacturing operational equipment and facility support systems in our 2 CT locations are maintained in optimal condition. Production equipment includes high-speed automated tablet presses and packaging lines (packaging tablets or powders in plastic tubes, foil blister or stick packs), blending and mixing equipment. Additional responsibilities for our Safety program and compliance with OSHA.regulations.
Direct and oversee the activities of maintenance personnel; train and develop staff to ensure they have the appropriate skillset to meet company needs. Direct reports include approximately 14 machine maintenance technicians (both mechanical and electrical) and Facilities Engineer. The Maintenance Manager reports to the Director of Manufacturing.
More specific responsibilities may include:
Prioritize and coordinate maintenance and repair activities of existing equipment. This includes contracted services, and includes research and ordering of parts and equipment.
- Work with staff engineer in improving the uptime and the operational efficiency goals of the facilities.
- Assist Staff Engineer with the development of equipment operating and maintenance procedures, including preventative maintenance schedule for plant equipment and implementation of a work order system.
- Prioritize and coordinate building services and projects. This includes contracted services, and includes research and ordering of parts and equipment.
- Secure required environmental permits and licenses.
- Establish and maintain hazardous waste storage areas and procedures; oversee shipment of hazardous and/or regulated solid and liquid wastes.
- Responsible for planning budgets and managing capital expenses in support of Continuous Improvement initiatives
Ensure compliance with federal and state environmental regulations regarding wastewater discharges, hazardous waste storage and disposal, and hazardous material storage; secure required environmental permits and licenses.
Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations (state and federal) safety policy development, safety training, maintaining the company Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) manual
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrated leadership ability in a manufacturing environment.
Minimum 5 years experience in the maintenance and repair of high-speed automated production equipment including electrical repairs..
Proven track record in successfully managing capital projects from concept to completion.
Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of environmental and safety regulatory compliance.
Ability to read blueprints and schematics; proficiency in procedure writing.
Excellent communication skills to foster teamwork with department heads and all plant personnel; strong leadership desired.
Bachelor’s Degree preferred; mechanical or related technical field.
