Maintenance Manager- Hutchinson, KS
This is a full-time salary exempt position
Position SummaryManage the manufacturing and facility assets at the site ensuring performance reliability in a 24/7 manufacturing environment, to meet customer demands in a safe working environment. This position reports to the site manager and will have direct supervision of the maintenance team and all associated maintenance administrative staff.
Job Responsibilities- Ensure maintenance technicians are properly trained to perform daily tasks as per safety and food safety procedures.
- Facilitate a daily shift hand off between maintenance techs to ensure proper communication between the outgoing and the oncoming shift.
- Provide mentorship, accountability and disciplinary support as necessary.
- Set expectations and hold team members accountable for daily tasks making sure that the plant is operating at peak efficiency.
- Coach, counsel, and address performance gaps with team members including annual performance review.
- Verify weekly payroll punches.
- Facilitate the development of a robust CMMS system including parts procurement and inventory management, critical spares list and inventory, PM program to eliminate unscheduled downtime, daily tracking of maintenance tech tasks completion, and parts and service ordering and tracking .
- Maintain staffing requirements to meet facility needs.
- Ensure master sanitation schedule stays on track.
- Facilitate periodic calibration testing of equipment for regulatory, safety and food safety requirements (Metal Detectors, Scales, Back Flow preventors, magnets, IR analysis, vibration analysis, etc.).
- Develop and maintain an approved contractor list.
- Facilitate Continuous Improvement initiatives to close gaps and implement corrective actions.
- Manage spending to annual budget
- Manage small capital projects and support large capital projects
- A Bachelors degree in technology or related field (preferred) or equivalent applicable work experience.
- 3-5 years in a manufacturing environment managing a maintenance team.
- Able to work with and collaborate with other departments including operations in problem solving, root cause analysis, and efficiency improvements.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex problems and determine corrective actions in a timely manner.
- Strong communication skills displaying an ability to present expectations and hold team members accountable to company and facility goals.
- Ability to work in an environment that can be dusty, dirty, hot and noisy and may require climbing stairs and ladders.
- Ability to prioritize workload
- Be visionary to develop and manage a department that incorporates a robust CMMS system and incorporates a preventative maintenance strategy to all tasks.
