Maintenance Manager for Skilled Trades - Automotive Supplier - Detroit Thermal Systems, LLC

About the Job
Mission:
To support and drive the implementation and continuous improvement of activities in the Maintenance department to meet production and business goals pertaining to; Safety, quality, productivity and cost objectives. Manage Skilled Trades Supervisors with Skilled Trades across 3 shifts. Primary responsibilities include the planning, coordination, and control of Maintenance department personnel and the designated maintenance system. Assist the organization's goals to foster a culture of respect, teamwork, continuous improvement. Partner with cross functional areas within the plant to include; engineering, finance, Human resources, logistics, quality, purchasing, sales, and the executive leadership team. Must establish and maintain a good working relationship with the union and develop a culture that promotes and achieve the plant objectives. Follow and enforce Collective bargaining contract. Must establish a good working relationship with all internal and external customers and suppliers. Develop and mentor team members to foster autonomy.
Coordinate skilled trades' resources to assure plant production and facilities are kept in good operating condition. Inspecting equipment, performing preventive/predictive maintenance, assigning tasks, setting schedules, supervising repairs, and enforcing safety policies. Oversee and coordinate the trades who maintain and repair; mechanical, electrical, plumbing, hydraulic, tooling and other building systems. Responsible for evaluating problematic systems or facilities and determining what installation or repair services need to be performed by initiating outside services as needed. Communicate effectively with adjacent shift supervisors and Lead supervision to ensure continuity in services/repairs.

Professional Experience/Education:
Bachelor's degree strongly preferred. At least 3-5 years of experience in manufacturing operations (preferably in automotive) with experience supervising skilled trades & salary employees. Manufacturing launch, maintenance &/or engineering experience a plus. Strong interpersonal skills, business acumen and knowledge in the areas of Maintenance, and quality. Proven leadership and ability to drive results.

Responsibilities:
- Implement short & long term maintenance planning requirements to achieve weekly MPS schedule compliance.
- Ensures maintenance is efficient & cost effective. Track department labor and MRO costs.
- Ensures maintenance is on time, of good quality and done in a safe manner.
- Manages health and safety and plant rules/ policies compliance: PPE compliance, uniform, safety shoes, safety glasses.
- Audit of direct report tasks to ensure results meet quality, safety, efficiency requirements.
- Monitors the maintenance process.
- Incorporate data driven analysis. Develop and maintain measurables
- Ensures proper administration & application of the collective bargaining agreement amongst team and proactively consults with HR when necessary.
- Manage & motivates team in a manner that is inclusive and enhances employee engagement and respect.
- Evaluate the performance of subordinates including coaching, providing constructive feedback, and setting goals & development plans.
- Identify cross training opportunities and implement across all shifts and trades.
- Tracking downtime occurences, corrective actions, duration of downtime in all production areas.
- Work with cross functional teams to reduce scrap and incorporate robust and timely implementation of PCA's.
- Develop measurable data to assess department performance.
- Schedule overtime according to need and contract.
- Assign repairs and over-see assignments until completion while minimizing overtime and production stoppages.
- Coaches, counsels, and manages performance of Supervisory direct reports and skilled trades direct reports.
- Develop and organize preventative maintenance and safety inspection programs for all facilities, tools and equipment.
- Review Equipment needs in advance for budgetary and capital expenditures
