Job Summary:
The Maintenance and Tool Room Supervisor is responsible for overseeing, managing, and directing all maintenance personnel and tool room operations. This includes the repair and upkeep of facilities, equipment, and machinery. Depending on qualifications and specialization, a more specific job title may be assigned (e.g., Electrician, Plumber, Painter, Millwright).
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect machinery, equipment, building systems, and related mechanical/electrical components to assess condition and determine the need for repairs or replacement parts.
- Operate various machine tools and fixtures to produce high-quality finished work.
- Perform all tasks in accordance with established safety protocols and standard operating procedures.
- Procure replacement parts and equipment within budgetary limits, as required.
- Work from a variety of sources, including specifications, manuals, blueprints, sketches, and verbal instructions.
- Complete other tasks as assigned by supervisors, ensuring continuous oversight to maintain high-quality standards. Maintain and enhance professional skills to effectively carry out responsibilities.
- Ensure compliance with ISO/TS16949:2002 standards.
Required Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
- Strong electromechanical skills, along with proficiency in language and math, typically demonstrated by a high school diploma and vocational training.
Key Duties and Expectations:
- Maintain regular, predictable attendance.
- Use a variety of machine tools and fixtures to create finished products.
- Adhere to safety guidelines and standard operating procedures in all tasks.
- Order replacement parts and equipment within budgetary guidelines as needed.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 70 pounds and regularly carry up to 40 pounds.
- Regularly maneuver around and under factory and lab equipment and machinery.
- Spend a significant amount of time standing, walking, lifting, and bending.
- Work at telephone and computer equipment.
- Regularly climb ladders and stairs.
- Work in a manufacturing environment, including exposure to varying temperatures, moisture, and chemicals/fumes.
- Occasional travel to other plant or customer locations may be required.
