Responsibilities Second Shift $1.50 Shift Differential POSITION SUMMARY: This position has the responsibility to comply with Safety work rules at all times as well as an obligation to reinforce Safety as a Core Value. Ensures that all policies, procedures and activities, related to Food Safety & Quality, are followed and complied with uniformly, in an effort to reduce product and process variability. Under the supervision of management, the maintenance lead is responsible for scheduling and completing various maintenance tasks. They need to assist in prioritizing work-orders that will ensure tasks are assigned and done in a timely manner and have minimal effect on production. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Under supervision of maintenance management, direct production mechanics in scheduling and completing various maintenance tasks. Prioritize and direct work flow of several mechanics performing both minor and major repairs on equipment in respective department according to GMP and sanitary requirements for a food processing plant. Determine time and material necessary to accomplish required repairs and assign necessary personnel to complete maintenance tasks. Inspect completed work, testing equipment where applicable, to ensure the standard of work is met, and all deficiencies are corrected. Assists maintenance management in establishing preventive maintenance programs and researching specifications. Work with outside contractors to complete project and improvements wherever possible. Maintain open and accurate communication with other maintenance employees as well as production. Ensure all assigned work orders are completed and accurately documented with all prudent information describing the completion of the work order. Complete MRO documentation and SAP entry as dictated by maintenance tasks, repairs, and PMs. Provide all information necessary to maintain proper parts inventories. Work independently with minimal supervision. Work with production operators to identify process improvements wherever possible. Assist in providing training of other maintenance employees. Perform all work in a safe manner following all Company safety policies and procedures becoming of a VPP Star worksite. Support all company goals and initiatives. Expected to adhere to safe work practices, follow GMP and HACCP guidelines, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained in order to maintain SQF certification. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: One-year certificate from college or technical school or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups, customers/vendors or employees of the organization. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram or schedule form. Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) Certification Driver’s license HazMat Confined Space Entry LOTO PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS: Some Technical Training in a maintenance occupation or a related field, and 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties. Two to five years of experience in a leadership position. Leadership training can be substituted for some of the maintenance experience. Ability to direct and motivate personnel to ensure that goals of maintenance and affected departments are mutually reached on a daily basis. Strong organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize assignments and workflow quickly and effectively. Thorough knowledge of the preventative maintenance programs for all production equipment An understanding of the systems and processes unique to the shift. Knowledge of motor controllers, low voltage electrical systems, proximity switches, photo-eyes, and variable frequency drives. Be able to read, interpret, and thoroughly understand schematics, blue prints, and technical drawings. Thorough knowledge of both AC & DC motor controls and starters. Understand the operation and basic troubleshooting of PLC’s. Understand functions and be able to operate and interpret various diagnostic equipment including but not limited to ohms meter, voltage meters, etc. Thoroughly understand and follow all OSHA and Company regulations as they relate to the maintenance field (LOTO, CSE, PPE, etc.). Thoroughly understand all MRO and SAP procedures and requirements and be able to enter and populate computerized tracking systems. Strong written and verbal skills including a working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word. Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
