Responsibilities Schedule: Monday - Friday Hours: 8 AM - 4 PM JOB SUMMARY: The Maintenance internship position is involved in maintenance activities at Michael Foods, Inc. This position should also build capability and provide a pipeline of future talent for Michael Foods. JOB ACTIVIIES: Be part of the plant maintenance team; assist with maintenance plan execution and Maintenance equipment uptime improvements efforts. Major responsibilities include: Adherence to Safety and Environment policy Compliance to Quality and Food Safety requirements Leading a team of technicians through day-to-day process execution, on equipment trouble shooting and work with operations team on equipment setup Tracking, Monitoring and Drive of Key Process Indicators (KPI’s) results OEE, Maintenance PM Compliance & Mechanical Downtime Exposure to Key Leadership Competency at work place: Ensure accountability & Direct Works Manage complexity, Ambiguity & Conflict Business insights & Financial Acumen Collaboration & Communicates effectively Diagnose and repair: Mechanical power transmission equipment: Gear boxes, mechanical drives, variable speed applications, and Servo motors Hydraulic and pneumatic systems Cylinders, valves, manifolds, vacuum systems, air filtration and lubrication devices Subjection to: Basic electrical AC/DC troubleshooting. Welding, sanitary welding, pipe fitting, soldering, rigging application and use of mechanical tools, hand tools, and power tools and machine shop to machine within specific tolerance using various measuring equipment. Vernier, calipers, and depth gauges etc. Read and decipher mechanical drawings, schematics, and piping diagrams. Qualifications Qualifications: Current enrollment in an Associates or Bachelor’s Degree program related to mechanical, industrial, chemical or electrical engineering field. Understand the engineering principles; having a basic understanding on heat transfers and being able to conduct some basic thermodynamic calculation. Passing the Fundamental Engineering Test is expected but not required. Basic understanding on OEE, plant performance, root cause analysis, process continuous improvement and Six Sigma tools/improvement cycle Excellent verbal and oral communication skills and be able to influence others. Eager to learn and challenge yourself; self-directed, detail oriented, reliable and strong initiative Strong statistical skills include but not limited to statistical process control (SPC), capability analysis, linear regressions, categorical data analysis and design of experiment (DOE). Microsoft Office user capabilities and any CMMS experience is a plus Be able to work 10 consecutive weeks during the months of May through August 2024.
